OZCUBAN Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Hi All I was wondering who are peoples Heros or who are Heros. Cheers Oz P.S For the record my heros are people that do good for people and for the benefit of mankind
sounddust Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Too many to list, but if I may give 3 examples: Jesus Christ, Mum and Dad, The men and women who fought for the freedom of my country in 1943(including the thousands of Aussies who were POWed the moment they stepped on the island).
demiurgic Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 An old Naval officer who lost his sight and his left side to stroke and used to live next to our apartment in Chicago, years ago. He had 22 teeth pulled in one sitting, played Clarinet for the Civic Orchestra in Chicago for a long time, and had teh good fortune to have an actual Spiritual Teacher (same one Dan Millman had. My friend, John, introduced me to my spiritual teacher, appreciating Art (Art Film, Rumi/Hafiz poetry, Symphony Orchestra) and introduced me to the power of Tai Chi (and an 80 year old teacher who can kick my ass, seriously) and a friendship I will cherish forever. With one of the worst medical conditions known to man (the stroke gave him a nervous system disorder causing immense pain on a regular basis), he still exudes a life force that puts most "regular" people to shame. By shame, I mean, this man, half in body and strength as an average human, was twice the man than most. Simply because he made life out of everything in a way that is hard to type out here. I Will visit him after 5 years in a month from tomorrow.
laficion Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 people that do good for people and for the benefit of mankind . These may not be everyone's nor anyone's heros but they are some of mine. Maybe some will say that they screwed up their own life somehow but, they gave themselves to the world . Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Because of his epicurean view into the soul of parisians. Compay Secundo, Because his songs and music has given Cuba to the world. Camille Claudel, Because of the sensuality she created in her art.

Colt45 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Though there are many people I've held / hold in high regard, I can't ever recall considering anyone a "hero".
smk819 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Richard Feynman, probably the greatest brain of the 20th century.
El Presidente Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Anyone who does great work for the benefit of others in the community, without alterior motives and without the need for reward or recognition.

Warren Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Ken. He's paid to travel the world, eat at good restaurants and drink free booze. He's not just my hero, he's a freakin' legend! So what you are saying Al is that Ken is the wind beneath your wings. Mind you Ken has enough wind for all of us.
