Habanos2000
I received this from a friend and thought some of you might enjoy watching it as well: On an August morning in 1976, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a car and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning. The course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets. He was arrested after this film, C'était un rendez-vous, reportedly at the time featuring a Ferrari 275 GTB being illegally driven at speeds approaching 140 km/h through the streets of Paris by a Formula 1 driver, was first shown publicly. Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqHrCLt3Geo

greenpimp
That was sweet. The stuff in Montmartre was insane. All that and not a single pigeon was killed. Amazing.
brian1
Here is a photograph of Mssr. LeLouch adjusting the camera on the MERCEDES that was used for the film. The sound of the Ferrari 275 GTB was dubbed over. There have been numerous studies of time vs. distance from landmark to landmark which show the car never exceeded about 80MPH. Still a very nice piece of film work.
