PigFish Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I just opened a box of these SUA ENE 01 and immediately noticed the uncommon wrapper lightness; what a beautiful surprise. I just thought I would share the photo. I wish I could share the smell. My God... putting the feet of these cigars to your nose and inhaling an enormous draft; it can only be redolent of dying and going to heaven. Discontinuing this cigar... hang your head in shame H SA! Can you smell them? I wish you could. -Piggy 1
Padrino Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 What a sight for sore eyes... They look even better without bands. Beautiful !!, thank you for the pic.
Colt45 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Wow - I love these kind of wrappers. Deep tan / dried oak leaf / peanut brittle in color, smooth and silky to the touch. I'll take these over a dark toothy wrapper every day. Thanks for the pic and smell
purosdave Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I have two boxes from 2000 and they have slightly dry and pale wrappers, but the aroma is out of this world and they smoke like a dream.

There appears to be a love hate relationship with many people and Le Hoyo line. I am one of the lovers. This does not mean that the cigar (line) does not have its problems like all Cuban cigars. My actual favorite of the line is the du Depute. I can smoke the du Depute almost daily and can consume them like candy. I have actually been known to smoke them in a chain fashion 3 and 4 in a row. This is not a common practice for me but I have been known to do it. For me the best of the line is in the smaller rings. You never would have guessed that I am sure... -LOL As a result I also enjoy the diminutive du Maire. Some of the best and worst of the line can be the du Dauphin. When these are on the elegance of the cigar combined with the rich and floral aspects of the flavor can make the cigar a favorite of almost anyone who imbibes. When not on they can be hopelessly mediocre or completely plugged. For experience sake I would encourage anyone to try the cigars while they can still be found but I would not really encourage anyone at this point to become addicted to a line that has been sentenced to death by H SA. I currently stock the du Depute, du Prince, du Roi, du Maire and du Gourmet... oh and du Dauphin. I will miss many of these cigars; the du Depute will be sorely missed. -Piggy 1

Guest rob Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 There's something mystical and enticing about a bundled bunch of bandless cigars. Especially with that wrapper shade and quality. Very nice!
sounddust Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Piggy, I'm intrigued that you love the Deputes so much. My LCDH has a last box from '02 I think, at a great price. Might give them a go on Sunday.
Alberto_Magnus Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 One picture is worth a thousand words... The answer is YES I can smell them Great pic, PigFish, those wrappers smile and speak! The smile and the perspective is so good that those coronas look much bigger!
armedak Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Never met a Le Hoyo I didn't like. Very under rated in my opinion. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Le Hoyo Du Prince,
tgherpst Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 enjoyin one from '00 right now...damn fine smoke
