puros71 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Looks like Australia beat up on Mexico 15-7 and Cuba beat South Africa 8-1 setting up the match up Tuesday. Anyone watch the games? Cepeda killed it with 2 homeruns. Tue., Mar. 10 Cuba vs. Australia 8:00pm 10:00pm MLBN, ESPN Deportes
habanablue Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Be interesting to watch, Cuba beat Australia at last Olympics/World Championships for Gold and Silver respectively I believe
puros71 Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 we play baseball? Yeah you guys do! And pretty damn good at that. I was impressed when they beat the crap out of Mexico. Today they play Cuba though. We will see, those Aussies never quit they play hard.
Punch Joe Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 we play baseball? As much as Cubans play cricket. The other day at the training the Aussies were playing cricket with baseball bats, funny to see that. Today it´s going to be tough for both. So we can only wait for the winner.
El Presidente Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 As much as Cubans play cricket. The other day at the training the Aussies were playing cricket with baseball bats, funny to see that. Today it´s going to be tough for both. So we can only wait for the winner. Have we won yet?
rckymtn22 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Game over. The Cuban wrestled the Roo onto the barbie and are heading for the celebratory cigar! 5-4
yossie Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Which one did win? You don't need to mind such a tiny thing. Because Japan eventually wins again!
Tampa1257 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Cuba won by a 2 run pinch hit homerun. 5-4 ,really good game! Sorry that the Aussies lost, maybe they'll advance anyway by beating Mexico.

puros71 Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Cuba batter Yosbany Peraza runs as celebrates after hitting his first home run against Team Australia during the eighth inning in their World Baseball Classic game in Mexico City March 10, 2009.
BobLobLaw Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 In my mind Aus won, the run line was +4.5! That is amazingly huge for baseball! I was happy to see Aus cover and even come close to winning outright.
Punch Joe Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I just saw this on a page talking about the game at the beginning and ended up talking about the success of Cubans overseas.... Classic! One of the more successful huge companies during this recession has been Mickey D's. Good ole McDonald's. It's no surprise, of course, because the main dude in charge, El Presidente and COO, el que mas you know what, the big cheese, head honcho, the top dog in charge is a guy by the name of Ralph Alvarez. Guess where he's from? How McDonald's tackles these challenges falls to Ralph Alvarez, a Cuban-born former accountant who is McDonald's president and chief operating officer. Mr. Alvarez, 53 years old, has helped the Golden Arches extend a six-year success streak with his focus on improving restaurant operations, adjusting prices and keeping down costs. He is widely expected to succeed Chief Executive Jim Skinner once the 64-year-old retires. Taking the phrase "hasta en el ajiaco" to a whole new level, with french fries. Funny how Cubans tend to prosper everywhere in the world except Cuba, eh?
Punch Joe Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Mate Beat Mexico tonite and we will see each other´s faces again. Time for a rematch, Aussies still alive and kicking. I don´t think we can make it to the finals this time, specially when our pitchers are not in shape and Japan and Korea are hitting the ball like no one else!
