El Presidente Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Happy Australia Day! Monday Public Holiday here to celebrate all that is good, fine and otherwise about our nation. We get together and fire up the BBQ with lamb and prawns, swim at the beach or pool and finish off the afternoon with a game of back yard or beach cricket. All in all we give thanks for the simple things that make Australia one of the great places in the world to live. HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

Fatshotbud Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Heck yes - another good reason for a party - Love it!
Ken Gargett Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 oh, big whoop! just another public holiday to the vast majority of aussies and to be honest, i reckon more than 50% would have no idea why we have it or what it means. there was a great ad on the telly about it not so long ago and the kid's response was basically, so we can watch the cricket (admittedly a good thing). teacher hugely unimpressed. as the kid walks out of the office, his dad looks at him and says, 'you should have mentioned the tennis as well'.
Jay Hemingway Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 hey i want to celebrate australia day too!!

Freefallguy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 the kid's Any mention of the Beaumont kids? You'd think with all the modern investigative devices that inspector's would still be trying to crack the case. Sad.
Bill Hayes Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 A ripper day it was too down here in Melbourne. Went spearfishing off Cape Schank in the morning, had fish and chips at Flinders pier for lunch and a barbecue at a mate's place for dinner. Should have taken the whole week off.
