Colt45 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Excellent review! Kudos to Arthur for bringing a touch of class to the proceedings. Gluten free bun boy did pretty good too.
lutharthegreat Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Another great review guys. Interesting how the cigar changes from punched to guillotine cut.
aavkk Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 always entertaining guys! Thanks for another great review. FWIW I say the more people the better, it offers a better glimpse into how consistent the box is. I vote for Mini Smithy and Arthur as permanent fixtures in the video reviews.
El Presidente Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 always entertaining guys! Thanks for another great review. FWIW I say the more people the better, it offers a better glimpse into how consistent the box is. I vote for Mini Smithy and Arthur as permanent fixtures in the video reviews. So ...cut Ken? Mini Smithy is very insightful. Arthur an old world Havana man from way back. All kept their shirts on, no flatulence, no-one suggested the cigar was a fake. Something to keep in mind
Colt45 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 So ...cut Ken? Personally, I wouldn't want to see Ken get cut. But maybe have him at a remote location with another camera - call it the gimp cam, or something similar. "Let's cut to the gimp cam"
Ken Gargett Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 oh dear, all i can say is talk about jumping the shark! if it wasn't for arthur, the latest vid would be up there with rambo 18, the famous 'soriority girls in the slimeball bowl-a-rama' (don't laugh, it is a classic), 'tammy and the t-rex' (surely denise richards finest moment, if you don't count charlie sheen) and one i'm still trying to locate, 'cannibal women in the avocado jungle of death'. has stanley made his ishtar? of course, none of this has anything to do with the fact that i was not there.
asmith Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Gluten free bun boy did pretty good too. Wait till you see the next review Colt, you won't know where to start with the abuse. Ken comes in for abuse but then Rob cuts loose on Me its a blood bath out there I tell you. Wookie.....????

You and the lad should consider unionizing. In her current state, I'd bet you could get Lisa on board as well. Just keep your eye on Diana......
sounddust Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Sauteed lychee? That sounds delicious and disturbing at the same time.
shrink Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Sauteed lychee? That sounds delicious and disturbing at the same time. Thank God it didn't taste like Vegemite.
Ken Gargett Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Thank God it didn't taste like Vegemite. that is something i can agree with. vile stuff. cannot understand why so many aussies swear by it. absolute highlight of a recent trip was catching up with a mate in spain and we were at the madrid airport. they confiscated his vegemite. you could bring down a terrorist cell without anything like the reaction. screaming, yelling, abuse, condemning spain as some prehistoric dungheap and the rest. i was in fits of laughter. my mate drew a crowd of about 300 and how he wasn't arrested, i have no idea. i was calling for the strip search.
rckymtn22 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Entertaining as usual! I was going to suggest Ken operate the camera but he has trouble posting on the forum. So that is out, looks like you will have to let him back in. The balcony is going to get crowded!
ironpeddler Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Great review...and entertaining as well Thanks. When did you gentlemen conduct this review? My ABR 08 CABs aren't exhibiting this smooth of a result yet. Another question about these particular cigars. Two other friends got boxes along with me and we all had signs of the bundle ribbon damaging the wrappers on the top outer edge cigars to the point that they were dented & crooked. Have you seen this on any of yours? While I know this common in CAB boxes, I've never had broken/cracked wrappers of this extent before. I had to take the trimmings of a custom rolled shag foot and use some El Torcedor to seal them up! Thanks.

We Gentlemen did the review on Wednesday the 21st , sorry to hear about your cigars that is disappointing.
asmith Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 When did you gentlemen conduct this review? You're drawing a long bow with the term 'Gentlemen'
Ken Gargett Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 You're drawing a long bow with the term 'Gentlemen' as i was not there, can only agree.
Moglman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I am pleased to hear the positive notes about the current Epi no. 2. Young HdM have disappointed often and I am very glad for the nice potential of recent releases. Great review. Thanks.
DocRKS Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'm really enjoying these reviews. Thanks for providing this 'insight' into what transpires down your way. The Epi 2 is my 'go to' morning smoke but I never liked them 'young' - as the ones I had experience with were harsh and with an unpleasant bite. Very pleased to hear your positive assessment of this new production. I'll probably have to break down and get at least a few 5ers of the 08s to try.
chrisguinther Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I smoked an Epi 2 from an 05 box yesterday morning and have to agree with many of the comments: medium-bodied, cream, and coffee throughout for me. This cigar has come quite a long way, and I'm looking forward to sampling some more over the next year. I'd put it at a 4/6 smoke rings.
stargazer14 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I had one yesterday as well, tho from an 07 box, I'd only give mine a 3, was not very interesting. Now to wait 2 more years to bump it up to a 4...
Bartolomeo Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 HDM Epi #2 SGT MAR 08 Brown cinnamon colored wrapper, some veins, dry texture and one of the best made smoke Rob has sold me construction wise Bought 2 singles from Czar Pre draw is sweet tobacco Flavors included cream, fruity/floral, hints of coffee I was curious to see how this stacks up agains the Petit Robusto Initial puff is cream.com ..........lots of it which was great One of the better Light/Medium Robustos out there IMHO Not as complex as others but flavor is great the entire smoke 9.15/10.......just a touch better than the Petit Robusto from my previous review Bart
tjohn7 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Just got my box from El Pres this afternoon. Can't wait to light them up.
