Oral care and cancer prevention?

I just want to know if there is a regimen that you fellas can suggest regarding mouth care and smoking cigars? I really enjoy smoking cigars; however, I want to smoke as much as possible and not be hampered with oral disease.

From what I've read, alcohol promotes oral cancers (why mouth wash isn't recommended). I assume that brushing and rinsing after smoking a cigar would help to reduce oral cancers as well as limiting the amount of alcohol consumption during smoking (yeah right).

From firsthand knowledge, go to the dentist regularly! Twice a year. This is the best thing you can do. Not only can they spot problems early (usually treatable with oral cancers), but keeping your teeth free of cavities and such helps prevent disease not only in the teeth, but in the jaw.

That's a very good point as well.

I recently went to my dentist (after 8 years - LOL - no cavities btw).

They are "high tech" now and one thing includes an oral cancer screening where you rinse for 2 minutes with a mouth wash and then they shine some light in your mouth. It's apparently an effective early detection screening.

Recommended 1/yr for tobacco users every 2 years for non-tobacco users.

None of that for me. All the hygienist did was stick her fingers in my mouth to feel for lumps or anomalies... I was thinking, "I could've done that!"

Early detection and treatment is the goal. The latest word is that performing oral cunnilingus is a risk factorm so just say no to oral sex.

Yes I believe it is the Pamiloma virus getting the blame.

Colt they do recomend the dental rubber damn as a prophylatic when performing oral sex but I say screw it.;-)

Look guys were are all going some day but we should avoid the big risk factors and the rest be damned.
