bigkev
I want to order some more cigars and prefer robostos. I wanted to get some feedback on the Epicure #2s in recent boxes. Any other rec's would be appreciated as well. I like full bodied with lots of flavor. Thanks!

I can't speak on the HdM, but as for other recommendations, the Bolivar Royal Coronas would be one. More mid bodied, but very flavorful would be the RyJ Short Churchill - a current favorite of mine. If you include Hermosos No.4, the Vegas Robaina Famosos.

Matter of fact just ordered a box of em since I ran out of the other half box I had. Very tasty IMHO! Don
kyee
Fresh Epicure 2's have been smoking great. I just smoked another last night and it was delicious from start to finish.

Kevin is right. I would rate them as in the top 2 current Robusto. The change started late 06 and has continued through. They are back to their former glory after a very long absence. Rich flavoured, medium bodied, remarkably smooth.

It has been over a year (looking at my notes) since the last time I had an Epi 2. Just used to find them mild and uninteresting and marked them off my list. Maybe a full review might be informative. . . How do they match up against the JL Sel #2? A subtle cigar IMHO.
jdbrown
No doubt that Epi 2 has made a huge comeback..My 06/07's have been nothing short of superb!

I have SML OCT 06 in the Epi #2 and the sweet rich flavor is amazing. Those and the young RASS are my nominees for champion young robustos. Thanks, I will order some Epicures, just what I wanted to hear. I love the Bolivar RCs and have a number of boxes in the oven. Thanks!
Tampa1257
Since everyone is talking about young Robusto's besides the Epi No.2, I want people to know that young PSD No.4's are smoking off the meat rack right now too!!!:-D
kyee
" How do they match up against the JL Sel #2? " Good question, as the JL2 is another robusto that I've been finding myself reaching for a lot lately. I am a big Cohiba Robusto and PSD4 fan, but lately I've really been craving the Epi2's and JL2's.

Not that I would have personal knowledge of any of this :-D , but I have heard that the HdM Epi2s compare very favorably with Cohiba Robustos these days. The HdMs, or at least this is what I've heard, carry a firm peppery note that works well with some of the bigger beers around here, while the Cohibas are supposedly better when flown solo. Of course, this is all second hand stuff.
habanohal
1 of my favorite Robustos. 2000,2001 are out of this world. Have 50 cabs of 2004 and 2005 with dark oily wrappers. A bit on the thicker side. Though the aint worth the $hit .Not even 3 years on them. 2007 have been good. but those are the years I have and opionion

brooklyn
They are fine;I purchased a box a few months ago and have let them sit a bit. Of course, I did not follow the 30 day set aside rule of thumb and smoked one right after they arrived. Simply wonderful:taste is spice, leather, nuts, chocolate, and smooth. I have a small but growing robusto collection(if I do not smoke them all!) , and the Hoya#2 is a treat.

The HDM Epicure two of late is richer and sweeter than the JL2. The Juan Lopez 2 is fuller than normal with a good wood/coffee core of flavour. I suggest it needs another few years. Right now the Epicure No 2 is more enjoysbale to smoke.
