Two days in Hong Kong really isn't enough time. I caught up with Ravi and Dag over the two days while enjoying some excellent food/wines/scotch/ laughter and interesting discussion.

Simon from Cohiba Divan at the Mandarin Oriental sends his best to all his friends here. He certainly runs a great unpretentious divan and provides a magnificent level of service. I spent most of yesterday afternoon with Dag at the Cohiba Atmosphere Divan which as usual has a wonderfull mix of members and visitors. The head of Altadis international marketing joined us as did The head of Dunhill marketing. Toward the end of the afternoon Alex from ACC cigars joined us and provided some new blend ACC Equadorian cigars to try. I was impressed with the prototype cigar I smoked (Ligero blend).

I don't think any city in the world currently has more hustle and bustle than Hong Kong and yet it has some challenges coming in relation to its cigar culture. From June 2009 all smoking will be banned in nightclubs and bars which will hurt. PCC has received an exemption on its cigar divans which will only make them more popular.

I think a FOH event in Hong Kong in the next year or so is a certainty. For cigar lovers...there is no better place in the world to delve into their passion.

I have never been, but always wanted to go to Hong Kong. An FOH event may be the straw that will break this camel's back!

Hell, I just want to go there and emerse myself in Dim Sum. Forget about cigars and friends and everything else that goes on in HK!

I have one box of cigars from the Cohiba Cigar Divan. Did I break a rule mentioning that? I don't really care.

They are approx. 1996 Bolivar Corona Gigantes (w/o checking). They are good, but I normally want to reach for something else.

Anyone want to try one? I am happy to send a few out. I am out of town for the next week, so my shipment will have to be afterwards.

PM me if you want one - nothing is required in return.

Love,

DC

Hey DC,

I'm a huge fan of Boli CGs. If you're looking to share, I'd be much grateful. Private message sent!

Do not be offended by others. I am not sure who you are talking about, but I am sure I can say forget him/her if you are getting a hard time for receiving a freebee... Maybe he is just too uptight to accept something like this? I am happy to send a smoke to Yossie. Hell, you post about as much as anyone!

Cheers,

DC

I couldn't agree with you more Rob, I love Hong Kong :-) I was there Monday and Tuesday but had a late flight back to Beijing Tuesday night so wasn't going to be able to hook up with you for a Wednesday lunchtime cigar - hopefully next time!

I was in Club Havana in Knutford Steps (Kowloon) and they had a sign saying about the 2009 ban on smoking. It is a shame that smoking in all bars/clubs is going to be banned as it will definitely change the relaxed atmosphere of several fine establishments. I don't see why they can't allow bars to decide for themselves if they want to go non-smoking or not.

If you do arrange an FOH get together in Hong Kong then I will definitely do my best to make the trip down :-)

Yes, yes, FOH meeting in Hong Kong.

Bring it on ;-)

Well that explains it. Rob is great when it comes to cigar recomendations, but I wouldn't model my life after him! No worries. You should accept this offer and tell him to go blow.

Or accept this offer and tell him nothing. That way he wouldn't know in the first place!

Welcome back Boss,

I can only wish to go to Hong Kong. I've think I got my wife ready for a future trip to down under but I could be a little ahead of myself. I'm just lucky we go to Jamica every Christmas.

Hope the trip was good for you.

May I suggest a verb to add into your message?

How about

- mean

- indicate

- suggest

?

So, let me see if I got this right: they ban smoking in Hong Kong next year, therefore a cigar meeting there is a good idea?

I guess my usage is somewhat colloquial..."Would that" is synonymous with "I wish that." No additional verb is necessary.

Really? I got more the feeling of waxing lyrical

Wax on Wax off! :-D

How 'bout we split the difference and call it collyrical?

Prez,

How is Ravi doing these days? For someone with I would assume a big business he seems to keep a very low profile. I used to use him alot in the old days, not so much now. Great to deal with.

Absolutely - a great word, and the pleasure of an accord would be all mine. For my part, in general,

I'll stick with terse prose, though I do break out in haiku from time to time:

friend of habanos

obnoxious freakin' heathen

wax collyrical
