jdbrown Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 This was the second one I had smoked from this particular box. I had a hunch when I recieved these that good things would follow. Stored at 63% RH and 65 Temp. Pre-light draw on the firm side which I like. A touch of splenda follows. The 1st 3rd is Cohiba grass and mild pepper and a fair amount of smoke. Very good flavor so far and it continues onto the second third with a slight build up in strength. I lay it down for a game of pinball. I hold the all time record on this machine and accomplished this while zoned on morphine after a back procedure. Go figure! I get back back to the cigar after a few minutes and things have changed. It has gained serious strength. This is no ordinary recent Esplendido. By slowing down it now shows it's true colors. It finishes with intense woody character intermingling with the distinct creaminess that a great Esplendido is known for. This is the best one I have had in along time. I imagine at the 5 year mark this will be a stellar box. Yossie, take your time and dont rush..let it do it's thing
yossie Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 » stellar box. Yossie, take your time and dont rush..let it do it's thing I love this cigar but I wish It were stronger.
toasterhead Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 jd, Thanks for the review. I have heard people swear by them and swear at them. I have only had one, from the LCDH in Cabo 2 years ago (didn't get the box code but it may have been older) and it was truly delicious. Dave
nutsford Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Point noted, i think i'll have to give my next a little more time to develop, sounds interesting.
Tampa1257 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 » I love this cigar but I wish It were stronger. Yossie, That is the sheer nature of larger cigars Habanos, they just do NOT have any umph to them. That means they they don't have any kick, balls, umph; which all means they they are not strong. If you want a stronger Habanos, smoke something smaller in ring size, like a Corona Especiales or a Lancero. My major issue with the Esplendidos is that they are so hit or miss and the vast majority that I have purchased, traded for or given have been miss.:-(
