yossie
I am sometime think this philosophical problem whenever I meet great/terrible cigars. When I met a great stick, I think I must gather more up! When I met a terrible stick, I think I must reduce my stock? It's always bothering me. Then, I wanna ask you guys, How much is the adeuqate number of cigars to pose for you?
anacostiakat
There is no limit to that question. Infinity? A direct correlation to the availble (ever expanding) room to store them? Ahhh, a truely philosophical question. . . .

That's quite right. but I do meta-think while I'm smoking. "Why am I smoking a cigar?" There're probably something more worthful I guess. I would say, I'm really enjoy this hobby though. Claudius
» How much is the adequate number of cigars? 30,000 - 50,000 sounds about right. 1,000 boxes of various sizes. Of course, if you smoke little and / or have no friends (or are Mel's age ;-)), you can do with less.

Yossie, this is a good way to avoid getting stuck with quantities of a cigar you don't care for. As for losing interest in cigars.... I suppose it depends on why you smoke in the first place. For me it's all about the flavor. I'm not a collector, and don't consider myself a connoisseur. I try not to let any technical aspects get in the way of enjoying a good cigar. I can't imagine ever totally giving them up.

Yes, Flavor is always making me a philosopher. gostgost
I don't know the answer to that I just keep buying them. My wife was sick of my humidors all over the place so she brought me a beautiful cabinet. Thanks honey.
GP012
My philosophy for something I like is two boxes. One box to smoke out of and one to sit undisturbed for a while. If I could afford to put two boxes down, I would. That works for me as I average one, maybe two cigars a week. I've also got a singles drawer that's bursting and full of assorted sticks I haven't had yet, so I rarely pull from a box unless I'm jonesing. If you always have a few cigars around, I would think that is adequate. I never really added adequate to any equation in which I included cigars. I would not expect many avid smokers on this site would. Havanas in general are all about going beyond adequate. That being said, there are a slew of limitations for everyone, not the least of which is supply and demand. (Cost.) I would think the correct answer for most readers of this site would be a number they feel comfortable with. For one person, that might be their next smoke. For others, it might entail far more detailed issues. I doubt many people can answer this question for each other. I can't answer it clearly for me, so I can be of no help to you, Yossie. Yossie, how many do you feel is adequate? Is it a straight number, or perhaps based on other factors? -DC

I have no idea. I just wanna smoke great cigars whenever I feel so. I'm not sure correctly but I have about 700 sticks now. Because I think It's rather more for me , The aduquate number for me is perhaps lower. I guess that's why I pose so much for me is by the attractive words like SALE or SPECIAL RELEASE or AGED. Yeah, I'm idiot.

Tough question ... I have been smoking cigars since July. First 3 months I bought NC (am in USA) - then had my first cuban (and discovered FOH) in around August. Since then ... have 16 boxes in my home humidor, another 10 in FOH (shhh - dont tell the wife). So thats hmm 625 or so. There are about 10 boxes of others I would love to have in my collection (buy at 1 per month else the wife will divorce me) - so takes me to 900. (Plus abot 100 NCs which are the ones I offer to guests, give away). Yep -- I figure about 1000 ..
