Loki
Very nice. Might I suggest that once you start it up leave it empty for about a month for seasoning purposess. Thats what I did with mine.
KB24
I got the Arisotcrat Plus about 3 months ago and I plugged it in and left for 36 hours then added the water once the temp got to the preset temp. I then let the humidity rise and season inside for another 3 days and then added the cigars. I have not once opened the humidor and read anything but the preset 68 deg / 65%rH. Thing is a damn work of art. ENJOY!!!
Jimmie The Mum
Yea, I need to have patience before I put the cigars in it. I started the seasoning process today.

What are the best seasoning methods? Is there anything more » that I need to know about? » » Thanks guys:-) Dolly, everyone has there own little methods. Mine came in Tuesday. From Tuesday through Wed. I took two small bowls and put distilled water in them. I then microwave them for about 2 and half minutes (until real steamy) and put them in the humidor. I re steamed them every few hours. I believe this speeds up the seasoning process. Then on Wed. I plugged the unit in. It only took a few hours to get to 65%. I will let that run for a few days and on Saturday night or Sunday I will start to fill that baby up. P.S. I also put copper pennies (3) in the reservoir. Why? This will help prevent mold in the reservoir. You can also use a small piece of copper pipe. I would use the pre 1982 pennies as they were made with copper. I hope this helps. KB24
Did you order the temp and rH controlled unit. If you did and you were just trying to season the humidor quicker I would disagree with using that method. I think by using the bowls of distilled water and heating them up would be potential more damaging to the wood inside then if you just followed the instructions that were provided. If you did not order the rH controlled unit then I would still not use the "steam method" and would just place a couple bowls of distilled water in there for a few days and let things happen naturally. On another note---does that penny idea really prevent mold in the water resevoir? Sounds like a good idea and one I might try. I haven't had any mold in my Arisotcrat but on the instruction manual it does mention mold can grow on the pad in the resevior if not changed every 3-6 months. The pennies work (pre 1982 ones have the most copper), I even spoke to Bob about it. As far as the distilled water and heating it. I've been doing that for years. A little steam will not warp the wood but I do understand everyone has their own methods.

I believe that it's something in the chemical makeup of the extract. I don't know if it's true, but I haven't had any mold growing after a couple of years.
