I would like to know people's opinions on them. I have roughly $200 to spend in the next week or so and was looking for a anywhere from a petit corona to a corona gorda size cigar.

My favorite cigars so far are the Cohiba siglo 2 and PSD4 and the Monte # 4 and Bolivar corona extra.

Do you think that the Saint Luis Rey's fit my tastes or should I be looking for something else. I'm fairly new to Cubans and am open to suggestions.

Based on your current favorites, I think that you'd find the SLR Coronas to be bland. You seem to favor strength and spice. I imagine that you'd really enjoy a Ramon Allones, probably the Specially Selected (RASS). It's a robusto.

You are correct, strength and spice is what I tend to lean toward. I have had the Ramon Allones small club corona before and found it to be very enjoyable but, it's a little on the small side. As for the Specially Selected how much spice does it have? I do like spicey cigars:-) .

Robusto size is nice and is probably my favorite next to a corona but, would prefer a corona.

I will keep the RASS in mind.

You want a strong and spicy corona? Well, about the only one still available is the Partagas, and it was discontinued over a year ago. If you can locate some '06 vintage, you'll be pleased. These age exceptionally well.

Oh, I almost forgot the Partagas Series du Connaisseur. They are smaller ring cigars, but boy do they deliver the spice! Try the No. 2 or No. 3. They're sure to please.

Try one of these: Partagas Connie 3, RASS, Bolivar Royal Corona or a Punch RS 11. These would all fall in your price range or close to it. Hell buy em all and exceed your budget by a great deal. You will be happier for it and get four tickets in the hopper!

SLR Coronas are nice cigar, but definitely medium bodied. They also are best with some age. My 01s tasted bland until a couple years ago, but pretty tasty now. In coronas, look for the Partagas or Bolivar coronas (Both discontinued in 2006). or try a Montecristo #3. The 06 Montecristos have returned to good strength & excellent flavor.

Great suggestion, IMO. Just be certain not to draw too heavily, or too often...

Add me to the P SdC 3 list. Sweet pepper spice in balance (as a great cigar should be) with a great

depth of flavor. I might suggest the Punch RS12 as well. For me, this is a meaty cigar with, once again,

the spice elements in harmony.

I was also looking at the ROMEO Y JULIETA EXHIBICION NO.3. The czar has it listed that there are some construction issues. Does anyone know if they have been resolved. There is nothing worse than sitting down and clipping the end off a cigar only to find that the draw is tight or worse plugged. A lousy burn can also take a lot of the enjoyment out of a good cigar.

Also does anyone think that these would be a good option based on the cigars that I have listed in my first post as known winners in my book?

Thanks to Bassman, I was able to sample one from an '06 box. Apart from the Cazadores, it was the strongest, most tannic Romeo I've ever smoked. It was loaded with flavor, kind of like an Exhibition #4 on steroids. Lots and lots of aging potential in this one.

And no problem whatsoever with the draw or burn. Like most of it's 2006 and '07 brethren, construction was excellent.

True! I'm not a big fan of RyJ, except the Cazadores, but the 06 EX#3s have been excellent.

Yesterday morning I smoked a 2001 SLR Corona I had in the humi. The wrapper had gotten a little banged up and was beginning to crack in a couple of places so I figured I had to smoke it while it was still intact. It was fantastic!!! Reminded me why SLR is one of my favorite marcas. This smoke was very rich and complex but definitely not overpowering -- just the type of flavor profile I prefer these days.
