I read from a source I trust that there are three new cigars in the pipeline in Havana. They are called the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria after the ships Columbus sailed in 1492 when he discovered America (and Tobacco, if I am not mistaken.)

They plan to release the cigars in decorative Porcelain Jars.

The brand has either not been revealed yet, or may be a new brand altogether.

I do not think the Czar would be taking orders yet, so just watch for news. I have no idea when they would be released or even if they will really make it out to the world, but I am guessing they will.

Having no knowledge about this, I would take a WILD guess that since the cigars are celebrating Columbus who "Discovered" America by landing at Cuba first in 1492, that it would not be a giant leap to believe that the brand will be Cohiba. This will be interesting to see how it develops.

Christopher Columbus departed from Spain on August 3, 1492, on a fleet of three ships: the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. Nina and Pinta were both smaller, sleeker ships, called caravels. Santa Maria was a larger, round-hulled ship, called a nao. Columbus himself sailed on, and piloted, the Santa Maria. Together, the three ships carried about 120 men, equipment and supplies.

Of the three ships, only the Santa Maria was built with a deck, and it was a much slower, heavier ship, with a keel that was about 115-feet long (35 meters). Both Nina and Pinta were about 50 feet long (15 meters). All three ships were armed. The Nina sailed under Vicente Yanez Pinzon, and the Pinta sailed under his brother, Martin Alonso Pinzon.

I also read this and the brand should be decided on very soon. $$$$$$$$$

Update---After thinking about it last night, my thought is it will be Montecristo, Cohiba, or Partagas

I did! I was in a zodiac at the time. Actually...

These full size replica's were built by the Spanish Goverment and sailed to 'The New World' on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's Voyage in 1492. The Pinta and Santa Maria can be seen in dry dock at the Museum for Science and History, 1900 N. Chaparral, Corpus Christi, Texas. The Niña is docked in the City Marina, in downtown Corpus Christi.
