Mike33 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Very nice review! I want to get a couple of boxes of these.....hopefully there will be some left after the holidays.
El Presidente Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Great review Rafa! You obvious enjoyment oozes from the page :-D It is great to see that some Regional Releases are doing what they are designed to do....explore and extend each Marque in a manner of puro exellence. It gives me high hopes for the Por Larranaga Robusto which I will review next week.
Ginseng Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Wow. Sounds like someone had a good time. :-D Well done, Rafa. I love the Familiar, and to think that the Maestro is so much "better" makes my mouth water. Wilkey
anacostiakat Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Yes. A very nice review. Thanks for the hard work. :-D
TexaSmoke Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Nice Review...I need to get a few of these
shrink Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 This is the most "useful" review of the Maestro I have yet read. I appreciated the comparison to a production VR. Thanks!
winelover Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Great job polishing off that whiskey too!

Don Candido Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 » » Here are some pictures of mine, courtesy of friends in Santiago de » » Compostela. » » » Beautiful pics! These are simply spectacular smokes! Right now, this is my favorite new release - apologies to all other releases! I WISH Rob had these smokes at Club Czar. I do not know a good source, but all I can say is this is a smoke REALLY worth seeking out, both to smoke now and to age. It will get better, but anyone who says it HAS to be shelved is nuts. After having tried them, I think about Maestros most every time I am grabbing a cigar... This cigar is all about getting to the ultimate potential of the VR blend, imnsho. Forget about every problem you have with the Regional Release program (if you do) and buy these cigars! I am not affiliated with Habanos or the Spanish distributor, whose name I do not even know, and have not been paid or given any other promotional consideration for offering this opinion... :-)
rafa Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 VEGAS ROBAINAS MAESTROS - lengh 141 *50 - ( Box code EMA SEP 07) Drink: Johnny Walker black label ( Blended 12 years old) Aroma at cold slightly cedar . well rolled. 1/3 - The beginning is spectacular. Very complex aroma, with nuances that are very difficult to translate (floral, cedar, honey , cream). Very pleasant.Taste are like a hybrid between Cohiba Robusto and Petit Edmundo.Marvelous. 2/3 - The complexity is going down, and the strength is going up ( now medium full, in the beginning medium). Cedar is predominant now. 3/3 - Now is going to full and I can perceive chocolate, coffee and cedar taste. Perfect combustion and very consistent ash. Dismantle the cigar and i can see two black leaves in line 6-7 In summary a very great young cigar. Smoking this is like an excursion to the fields with differents landscapes. The only disappointing is that complexity in begginig ( a lot of nuances) change in predominance of only a few (but very pleasant) nuances. Aroma , the better i remember. My valuation 93/100 ---------- After this ,i going to smoke a VEGAS ROBAINA FAMILIAR to compare .Obviously there is an abyss between them. In fact if i will smoke both without bands, i could think that they aren't the same brand. Familiar is a simple, easy and pleasant smoke, tipical Vegas Robaina profile without more (88/100) Here there aren't two black leaves At the end, to finish the cigar party , and with 1/2 bottle of whisky in my body , a classic PARTAGAS SERIE DN4. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate with a little wood taste. Always fantastic for me ! And now to the bed
Bartolomeo Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 VR Maestro RE EMA SEP 07 89 min smoke time Light Maduro wrapper w/ veins, slick in texture, firm feeling and great construction Initial 1" was boring and one dimensional but opened up nicely at 2/3 I dont like to steal from others reviews but this was pure Expresso and maple syrup flavors included earthy, wood, cedar, tannins and some spice Med-Full in body Reminded me a little of a Ramon Allones taste.....great! 9.2/10 Looking for a box but not much out there as this was a single Bart
hsmunoz Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 this is how I feel about them and two more boxes since. great stick now.
