More thn likely its eyes are bigger than its belly and it was trying to lift it onto the ledge but would try to swallow it whole in the water if need be. If it could swallow it....wouldn't need to eat for a year :-)

Not talking about the snake, but the deer look-a-like thing. More importantly what the f is the deer look-a-like land based animal doing in the drink? I'd put my money on falling off the precipice.

Ginseng Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Amazing. The digestive power of these creatures is simply amazing. For example, how could it break down the prey before it rotted to the point of being poisonous inside the snake? Wow. I wonder how big the snake's poop would be? Wilkey

Wow. » » I wonder how big the snake's poop would be? » » Wilkey i would be surprised if the snake didn't manage to swallow the roo. they disengage jaws to get prey of that size in. rob is correct though in that it probably wouldn't eat for a year. it would head off, find a hole or whatever and just slowly digest the thing. presumably evolution has covered the problems of the thing rotting inside and it doesn't seem to affect the snake at all. crocs are similar. that said, would not like to experience its breath after a few months. think this was posted once before but will give an idea of large their prey can be (tho have a recollection that this snake did die).
