Just out of curiosity, I sampled the first from this '06 box last night, and was very, very pleased with what I encountered.

The cigar ain't much to look at - rough and uneven, and pretty soft to the touch in some places. Still, it lit easily and burned pretty well throughout it's short life. As expected, the initial draws were PDS (pretty damned spicy!), but in a way that I really like. All the peppery, woody, and cinnamon spicy goodness was there in spades, which let me know that this box is gonna age really well. What I didn't expect in such a youngster was the lightly honeyed finish. These little buggers were nice and sweet, which makes for a great counterpoint to the hot cinnamon and peppery spice. Although it began to get pretty harsh near the band, I was able to enjoy it all the way to the nub.

I've smoked No. 3's from '99 through '06; and although it's still pretty early in the game, my guess is that these '06s will mature into one of the best. That is, if you like 'em short, sweet and spicy!

I had an '06 earlier this week - I don't have the exact codes on hand - a great cigar,

but this one was more earthy and straightforward, and without some of the ancillary

flavors of earlier examples from the same box. I agree that these have great

potential.

Shrink......the Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3 is the Kalashnikov rifle of Cuban cigars. They can be ugly, mistreated, underfilled and they still perform when it counts. Minismitty pulled two out for us 4 weeks ago which were plugged (he knew they would be touch and go but better we smoke them that others). After clipping the cap they were very tight so I threw them in an old PD4 box holding cutters and lighters on the deck. I found the two cigars again last Thursday....hard as a rock, over dry....but too lazy to go for a cigar downstairs...fired it up. Glorious! Perfect draw, great flavour. Smoked the other back to back.

Great review Shrink. I bought a box of connie#1's which are great, and I am definately considering the #3's for a future purchase.

It is weird with partagas, I don't even know if they are my favourite band but when I look at my box purchases, I just can't get enough of them!

My first experience was with the No. 1. I was impressed. I bought a couple boxes, and thought to myself, "Why would I want to buy a shorter version of this, since the Nos. 2 and 3 cost almost as much?" Well, the simple answer is that the No. 3 isn't just a shorter version... it's a stronger version! Probably a greater proportion of ligero, or the influence of the smaller ring guage, or maybe just because it's shorter. Who knows? The moral of this story: If you've smoked the No. 1, you haven't just smoked a longer version of the No. 3.

Partagas Series Du Con #3 TEB NOV 07

Veiny, mottled rough wrapper

Cinnamon colored wrapper

Pre draw had a little resistance, not a wind tunnel.....very nice

Creamy-Pepper(Paprika) initial puff

Not a huge fan of this thin format but once in a while would be OK, its all about the flavor for me in any size cigar really

Recommend smoking slow

Very tight White-Grey ash

Some sweetness in 2/3 but not enough to distinguish itself as a flavor I recognize

Some bitter chocolate towards the end of the 2/3 now

Med-Full leaning towards Full……….Ok, its Full ;)

Surprisingly no bitterness at the end which was nice

40 min smoke

8.8/10
