Seemed that every time I was enjoying one I would have this ditty pop into my head as I was trying to discern a particular taste. Kind of cool, and I think my Mom use to sing this to me when I was a little guy. Ken, it's probably not a coincidence. Keep in mind that our brains are, in effect, incredibly sophisticated receivers. We can "tune in" to a broad range of stimuli, at various frequencies and distances. Investigators in the field of ESP have been able to reliably demonstrate that many people can beat "chance" in a variety of tests. The great psychologist Carl Jung posed a concept he called "Synchonicity" to describe events which are temporally related, but in which neither "causes" the other. From Wikipedia: Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally inexplicable to the person or persons experiencing them. The events would also have to suggest some underlying pattern in order to satisfy the definition of synchronicity as originally developed by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. Carl Jung coined the word to describe what he called "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." Jung variously described synchronicity as an "'acausal connecting principle'" (i.e. a pattern of connection that cannot be explained by direct causality), "meaningful coincidence" and "acausal parallelism".
