BCG 02 CAB

Recommended Posts

Bought a couple of Cabs of these last year. Wonderful smokes that are true to their heritage in taste and performance.

Seemed that every time I was enjoying one I would have this ditty pop into my head as I was trying to discern a particular taste.

"Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread."

Ran a search on Google for "shortning bread" and found this rendition. Kind of cool, and I think my Mom use to sing this to me when I was a little guy.

SHORT'NIN' BREAD

Plantation Song

Written By: Unknown

Copyright Unknown

Put on the skillet,

Slip on the lid,

Mama's gonna make

Some short'nin' bread. That ain't all

She's gonna do,

Mama's gonna make

A little coffee, too.

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

Three little children,

Lyin' in bed

Two were sick

And the other 'most dead

Sent for the doctor

And the doctor said,

"Give those children some

Short'nin' bread."

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

When those children,

Sick in bed,

Heard that talk

About short'nin' bread,

Popped up well

To dance and sing,

Skipped around and cut

The pigeon wing.

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

Slip to the kitchen,

Slip up the led,

Filled my pockets full of

Short'nin' bread;

Stole the skillet,

Stole the led,

Stole the gal makin'

Short'nin' bread.

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

Caught me with the skillet,

Caught me with the led,

Caught me with the gal makin'

Short'nin' bread;

Paid six dollars for the skillet,

Paid Six dollars for the led,

Spent six months in jail eatin'

Short'nin' bread.

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread,

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin', short'nin',

Mama's little baby loves

Short'nin' bread.

Whew!! Lots more than I ever knew!!

Ken, it's probably not a coincidence. Keep in mind that our brains are, in effect, incredibly sophisticated receivers. We can "tune in" to a broad range of stimuli, at various frequencies and distances. Investigators in the field of ESP have been able to reliably demonstrate that many people can beat "chance" in a variety of tests.

The great psychologist Carl Jung posed a concept he called "Synchonicity" to describe events which are temporally related, but in which neither "causes" the other. From Wikipedia:

Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally inexplicable to the person or persons experiencing them. The events would also have to suggest some underlying pattern in order to satisfy the definition of synchronicity as originally developed by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung.

Carl Jung coined the word to describe what he called "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." Jung variously described synchronicity as an "'acausal connecting principle'" (i.e. a pattern of connection that cannot be explained by direct causality), "meaningful coincidence" and "acausal parallelism". Jung introduced the concept in his 1952 paper "Synchronicity — An Acausal Connecting Principle", though he had been considering the concept for almost thirty years.[1]

It differs from mere coincidence in that synchronicity implies not just a happenstance, but an underlying pattern or dynamic expressed through meaningful relationships or events.

shrink, as ever i am deeply in debt to your goodself. not only have you managed to explain why i woke up singing that song but far more importantly, after reading your inspired explanation and realising that you are usually paid money for such sage advice, you have cleared me completely from the slightest feelings of guilt for earning a living drinking wine. you are worth every cent.

Ken, as we discussed in our last session... just repeat after me:

"I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am attractive person. I am fun to be with."
