Jimmy2 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I LOVE these puppies they really are the perfect Churchill.
shrink Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 From full bodied to medium bodied in the twinkling of an eye but the change allowed it to get into stride and showcase some lovely Bolivar flavours of mushrooms, earth, leather and burn't toast. Lovely, descriptive review, Prez! However, the examples I have had from early 2006 also have distinct fuity notes, with a sweet and tangy finish. I would rate them a bit higher, as well.
Quint Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 MMMMMmmm sound delicious...looks like a bix is in the future. Thanks for the review Rob.

El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Bolivar Corona Gigantes POS FEB 06 Fired up a BCG with my morning coffee today. Lovely looking cigar, good construction with an aroma at cold which could only be described as damp earth. I had a friend pop in while smoking this cigar so I missed one of the photo's but it has as much to do with how much I was enjoying the cigar as anything else. Clipped the cap and the draw was perfect. Taste on the lips was damp forest floor...all wet leaf litter and soil. Torched the foot and was greeted with an intense assault of pepper spices. Hoorah! a cigar which makes an immediate statement. If it could talk in its Spanish Accent it is saying "My name is Bolivar Corona Gigante....I am a Cigar of proud heritage...I am here to entertain you" It took the best part of 5 minutes for the initial barrage of spice to dissipate and when it did it did so quickly. From full bodied to medium bodied in the twinkling of an eye but the change allowed it to get into stride and showcase some lovely Bolivar flavours of mushrooms, earth, leather and burn't toast. There is a burn't bready quality to this cigar which forms its core and allows it to showcase its controlled white pepper and forest floor notes. Slightly dark and brooding cigar which lets you know that raisins and lemongrass and honey are no part of its genetic makeup. A traditionalists cigar, a cigar for the sheer and unadulterated love tobacco and Cuban tobacco at that. Slow burning, meandering and staying very true to its flavour profile. At different stages differing elements of its core have the opportunity to shine but none take over. Well balanced, controlled, the cigar version of the quintessential university lecturer. This Bolivar Corona Gigante is no powerhouse through the majority of its length. Starts in such a manner and ends with a similar bang of cannons however in general it is medium bodied and comfortable to be so. Nice lick of unsweetened licorice towards the back end which heightens interest and gives a hint to aging potential and complexity down the line. Very enjoyable Churchill. 89/100 4.5/6 Smokerings.
