Favorite Lighter

Recommended Posts

I have a Blue Rhino triple flame butane lighter that I use. I've had a few "El Cheapo" Fuel/Petrol station type butane lighters as well.

I'm not real happy with my Blue Rhino, I use Vector fuel but still the lighter sputters. If it worked correctly I would be very happy with it, but alas it doesn't

I like the butane torch type lighter. What do you use? :-)

Thanks

Ether..

» Blazer Pocket Torch (PB-207)

Once you buy one of these all your other lighters are "collectables"

I have two of the Blazers because I lost one on a turkey hunt so I bought another. Two weeks later I found it in the mud and took it home and cleaned it out. While it was still dripping wet I tried t light it and it lit on the first go.

I think I must have a "dud" (blazer). I've been using mine exclusively for some time

now, and while it works, it rarely ignites first try, and usually takes quite a few tries

to ignite - and then it tends to sputter a bit. I am using vector quint.

Yes to Vector and a few others It does not seem to matter much. Hey Colt bleed off all the fuel and air and try again. Never top off if half full.

For a fast light the ONLY way is with the Blazer PB-207 or the non-lockabale version but I don't know the number. The PB-207 is famous. It holds a ton of fuel, the flame is strong and just hot enough. Some torch look hot but aren't. And it's reliable.

When I am not in a rush, my Dupon dual flame is a joy. It warms and toasts the foot like a champ. What a ritual to behold.

I'm with you Mark. never tried any Solo, but way happy with the others. I generally leave the Dupont's at home, because losing one would royally upset me, but always get comments when they are pulled out at a social function. I'll use the PB-207 (no childproofing) everywhere and anywhere, from the golf course to herfs, but I wish I could figure a way to keep the lids on.

Wow! I didn't think I'd get this much response. Looks like the way to go to start with is a Blazer PB 207. Thanks a bunch for the advice.

Great thread though and handy for someone starting out. :ok:

Wonder If Prez could start a FAQ portion of the forum to move handy posts into?

My favorite day-to-day pocket lighter is a Blazer CG101. It has a huge gas capacity, a visible gas "tank" and can pass through airport security xray undetected. Works perfectly.

I also have a creme brulee torch for use in my smoking lounge.

Aesthetically, my favorite is an Atoll sft flame lighter with allegator hide.

I was gifted a lighter when I spent a week aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72, an aircraft carrier. It is a zippo with the Lincoln logo insignia. I put in a butane torch insert. Using it reminds me of my two visits aboard the ship and my good friend who arranged both visits. I use it more often than the other lighters I have.

» Do you guys know if you can clean the jet with a fine wire?

Hey Colt don't they have a lifetime warranty? Take that sucker back and have it replaced. Don't let them send it back and after it is fixed call you to come pick it up. FTS. Tell them to give you another FOC and they can wait on the company to fix it for them. That's what I did. If you ain't got the balls to handle it LMK, give me the address where your ***** ass lives and I'll send you one.:-D
