Thanks for the review Pres.

Several times I've considered purchasing a box of these, then decided against it. Maybe I should go ahead and bite the bullet and give them a try.

Nice review Prez.

I like these with a hoppy beer, floral compliments floral in this case.

no need to punish the whole line over the shortcomings of one

cigar.........:-)

Great review as always - thanks.

Odd. I have a box of Petite Robustos aging since I find them very tasty. Great review Rob!

Sunday Morning 'Ritual' at my place is a pot of my own Home Roasted Coffee with a HdM Epi 2 to start the day.... It's just one of those things that brings a smile each and every Sunday..:-)

I have 6 cabs of these. By far my favorite. The best cab is from 2000 from Czars vintage sale . I always smoked them fresh. But there is no comparison to 5 years of age on them. A big differance.

If you have them, let them settle for a few years and you wont be disapointed

I do need to see a psychiatrist .....I have developed a resentment of HDM. It started wih the HDM Petit Robusto which I detest with a passion. I hate that cigar. What a flavourless piece of crap...a vile flavourless addition to a famed brand which turned me off HDM for a ong time.

Rob: you must be off your meds again. I don't care for the HdM Petit Robusto either. However, Lisa sent me some '06 des Dieux and Epi's that I thought were pretty damned good for young 'uns.

I did say "outside of the Le Hoyo range.....I have developed a resentment of HDM" ;-)

And you are not the only one to find the Petit Robusto an excellent cigar.

To me, they come across as papery, thin, one dimensional, hot burning, cedary crap. I just don't think my taste buds are wired to the HDM Petite Robusto's flavour characteristics. 2 minutes in and I start screwing up my face and mouthing expletives

» They ****ed the blend of this cigar since '03. It should be spicy and

» bold, not mild and creamy IMO.

Try an early '06 Epi No. 1. That's the ticket...

thanks for the review rob, I too, lost alot of respect for the HDM range after the petite robusto, though Ive had Epicure No.2 cabinets, most have been generally bland, a few harsh and a few too mild. not for me!

i like the edmundo though mmmm

I didn't intend to review this cigar...just smoke it like an average pleb at 9am in the morning with a cup of coffee checking e-mails. In fact, to be honest, I haven't liked a hell of a lot of Epi 2's over the past year. To me there are so many other better cigars in the Robusto format....Cohiba, Juan Lopez, ERDM, BRC, RASS. I do need to see a psychiatrist because outside of the Le Hoyo range.....I have developed a resentment of HDM. It started wih the HDM Petit Robusto which I detest with a passion. I hate that cigar. What a flavourless piece of crap...a vile flavourless addition to a famed brand which turned me off HDM for a long time. Amazingly, Habanos s.a inform me that people purchase it in droves.

So come Friday I found a HDM Epicure 2 with my name on it. I lit it while checking my e-mail and when I hit that opening floral aroma...shortbread and light coffee milk palate...I went to find my camera. Perfect draw....otherwise stock standard 2006 HDM Epicure No 2.

Class personified. Not the strongest Robusto...not the most complex. Mid bodied but very distinctive....you could not possibly confuse this Robusto with any other. Floral...creamy, light coffee. Delightful morning cigar. If Rafael Gonzalez made a Robusto you would swear this would be it.

From mid point to last third it kept its composure. No bitterness, no introduction of new flavours, volumes and volumes of blue smoke.

Delightfull. 88/100 4/6 Smokering
