some may recall rob bagging my shorts one year (they would be the shorts i was wearing holding that whopper bonefish, rob). well look what turned up this year...

setting off for fishing...

this is gumby the guide. i had to give up my usual bloke to help out some ancient pom (more than they've done for aussies for 200 years) and got this bloke. i knew i was in for a tough day when he put the reel on backwards and was trying to feed the line the wrong way (seriously).

this is gumby with a bone i caught. at this satge, i was wondering why i had a guide. i spotted the school, cast to one, hooked and caught it, all while gumby was on his 83rd cigarette break for the day (and for the record, no matter what crap rob may suggest, on the largest stack of bibles, penthouses or whatever other publication you may wish to use, i hereby swear and declare that i have never had a guide cast for any trout or bonefish i have caught. if i am lying, may the hated 'tahs win every future interstate clash against the glorious, if underperforming, reds for the rest of history, and win them all with an against the play, length of the field try in the last second). gumby had released the previous one while i was still getting the camera.

the pillock of the trip. this bloke was wandering around one arvo. he was just a member of some cruise ship tour group but had taken it upon himself to declare himself in charge and was directing the others around. only the germans were taking orders. we called him thurston howell the third (apols if he is anyone's relative).

rob and jose at jose's place on the river. jose is one of the most genuinely nice guys you'll ever meet. rob is... rob.

time for Bay of Pigs II? some of the army's equipment might be a touch out of date.
