have seen the name appear a few times on the forum and tried to get hold of some in aust but seems impossible. picked up a bottle of 'centenario 23 anos' duty free mexico. was at $38 which seems reasonable for me for an old rum but not sure of how it fits for this brand.

anyone any specific reports?

'centenario 23 anos' , all I can say Ken, if you don't like it, I'll gladly take the remaining part of the bottle off your hands, that is good sippin rum IMHO!

It's excellent, but a second place finisher to Caney, Cubay, or even HC 7 year.

I concur! Top shelf!

I also like the Zaya, Betancourt 15 and El Dorado 15.

Nick please, you can't be serious. Not to mention price/value: I'll take HC at $10 to Zacapa at $40 all day, every day, and twice on Sunday. And Caney and Cubay are far better rums than Zacapa, without question.

Thank you.

Gotta agree with Nick. Even considering the price ($20 HC7 vs $40 Zacapa), I'll still take the Ron Z. I would put the HC7 on the level of Zaya 12. I still grab a bottle of HC7 at Gigante whenever I make a border run just to keep it on hand.

Everyone has different tastes and more than one person has told me they don't like Zacapa because it's too sweet. More for me!

LOL..well I was exagerating a little and was trying to ruffle your feathers....hehehehe it was easy but sure I like HC7 but Zacaba is just alot smoother to me which I like.....and where in the hell you getting HC7 for 10 bucks a pop?....live near the mex border do you?

I find it too sweet for my taste. I like a dryer rum w/just a touch of sweetness, like HC-7 or HC barrel proof.

BTW,the bottle of Ron Zacapa, I got was on sale at Hi-Time for $29 .

They run great sales every now an then, X :-P

Lots of rum being made in the Carribean. It would be awesome to take rum-centric tours to catch all the different styles of rum.

(It sucks that you can't get even half of it in the US.)

LOL!!!

I was guestimating. 7 year anejos used to be 7 USD in Havana, but I figured with the CUC I'd tack on another 3 to be conservative. Europe I've seen it for around 20ish and not too much more in Canada. Caney is not exported. Cubay and HC are. And I do like RZ, just not as much as Cuban anejos. Nick, you are a riot!
