stonerpc Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Got a box of ten and WOW! No trace of ammonia upon opening the box and very nice dark wrappers, fired one up and fell in love with this rich short smoke. Would like to here what you quys think of them.

So funny this thread was just posted. I just smoked an Edmundo and was going to come on here and talk about how great it was through and though and then I was going to ask are the Petite Edmundos identical to the Edmundo? I am officially a fan and will most likely order a box of the Petite or the Edmundo. Thoughts?

Only thing I hate about it is the size...way too short for how good it is. Mine lasted about 35 minutes.
mef Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Had one on Sat after resting the box for about a month. I absolutely luv it. Beautiful wrapper, no flaws with nice cap. Mild earthy smell while cold and lit perfectly. Excellent draw and rich dense smoke. First few puffs I tasted leathery, earthy and floral flavours. The PE developed further characteristic to spiced herb midway and smooth peppery on the last 1/3. I enjoy it so much that it was very hard to let go. About 45 mins of relaxing smoke. In my opinion better than Edmundo. 4 / 5 Kiwis mef
Shooter Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Lisa sent me a couple singles a few weeks back and last week Cigarnv and I burned 'em at lunch. The construction was gorgeous and it really displayed some nice Monte flavors! I DID however reaffirm that I prefer cigars with a ring-gauge LESS than 52 though. Smoking time for us was one hour on the dot. I'd recommend 'em to folks for sure.
TR Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Excellent smoke...I wonder if the OR will be better than subsequent shipments.....remember the OR Edmundos? The next wave was not as good..........or mine were not....
jharvey1309 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I just tried one last night. Huge ceder smell and taste on the pre light draw. They look and smell great. I had just recieved them a few days prior and shoud have waited as they were very humid and had a horible burn. I will have to wait on these for a few months but they show huge promise. Jonathan
tapewormboy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I always thought that the OR Edmundos were bland. I have two boxes of POS ENE 06 Edmundos that are great though; very rich but very in need of rest. Guess I'll need to start picking up some of these PEs. Seems like there's been some great reviews floating around. » Excellent smoke...I wonder if the OR will be better than subsequent » shipments.....remember the OR Edmundos? I imagine the Petites are the same basic gar missing an inch or so.
Gryphon Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I have found the Petit Edmundo to be distinctly different to the Edmundo. Its not just a shorter version. Although the PE is still young its a great smoke. Full of flavour and excitement. Its only going to get better with age. I understand some have issues with the size, but thats another discussion.
Ken Gargett Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 definitely different. had a couple of youngies in havana on the trip and found them a bit too one-dimensional but that could partly be that they were up against some stiff competition. will certainly give them anpther crack and brought a few back to do just that but might give them six months or so. i've long been a big fan of the edmundo tho i know that there are mixed views among the forum. that said, had one shortly after arriving in havana and found it bog average in the extreme. really disappointing. most of mine have come from the one, sadly now empty, box that i got in havana when they were first released and i sometimes wonder, when i read of dissenters and after that disappointing experience, if i was just lucky and snagged a really topnotch box at that time.

I don't think so, from what other, recent smokers have told me. The '05 and '06 batches were a dramatic improvement on previous years when the Edmundo got a bad rep. All I know is I had one from a good source and unknown year that was terrible and all form my DIC '05 box have been from good to outstanding. Steve
El Presidente Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Steve, Habanos s.a and Tabacuba refutes any notion of a change in blend. I don't believe them. There has been a dramatic improvement
habanohal Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 They are a good cigar right now. But the price point is too close to the Edmundo. For half the tobacco or a little more than half of the Edmundo, they are approximately $25 or so cheaper. I bought a box , and am smokeing through them. I doubt I will order more because of the price comparison. Now if these were around the $149 range, then I would be willing to stock up on a few boxes.

It was a surprise to many of us in the industry at how close the price point was to the Edmundo. At the time, I checked with PCC and HSA in case an error had been made. No error.
