Gryphon Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Firstly, I must congratulate you all on FOH. I am new to the world of cigars. Although I have always been intrigued by Habanos. I assume it flows from my insane interest of whiskey, more specifically Single Malt Scotch, which I have been drinking and collecting for many years. My complete fascination with Habanos, is that each and every cigar is different. Hand made from a "living" and unprocessed leaf that continues to change and mature through its life. Fantastic! My first smoke was a draw from a friends flavoured something! Soon after that, that is the next day, I had my first RyJ No.3. My interest and understanding on the subject of cigars and Habanos has grown leaps and bounds ….. Within the first week of smoking I had already attempted my first Siglo I. Now I am working on putting together a humidor which will allow me to smoke 3 – 5 year aged smokes. I have defined the vitolas that give me the most pleasure, which include the Double Corona, Robusto, Petit Corona, Corona Gordas and the Pyramid amongst some smaller ring gauge vitolas. I have also been lucky enough to of had the guidance of a very knowledgeable aficionado to direct me in the right path, bringing my attention to consider quality, age and supplier before price. Allowing me to put together very good quality smokes. I think it's been wonderful being able to make finds like the RASS, Bolivar Royal Corona, PL Petit Corona. Cigars not as sexy as some, but offering some of the best tobacco that Habanos has to offer. I have also been putting down the Regional Editions for future years, as they seem to offer very good ageing potential. Smoking a Habanos, is always a fascinating experience. These cigars take you on a trip of various flavours. Sitting alone looking at the stars, and smoking a cigar that you know you have aged, is a very remarkable and rewarding experience.
