I am a total novice when it comes to good Tequila, Patron has been tasty, yet for my palate I have preferred Herradura Reposado, 100% Blue Agave has a black pepper flavor that tingles the palate yet does not over power you like the cheaper Tequila's do.

I've had reserva de familia & enjoyed it only because it was free. It is the most overpriced tequila available today, IMO

Great MFGs to try out are Don Julio & Cazadores. Both offer a full line of enjoyable tequilas without overpowering you with the typical characteristics of each age of spirit. The Blanco/White's aren't too harsh, the reposado's have a lot of flavor & the Anejo's aren't overwhelmed by oak. For a super premium tequila that represents some terrific complexity, for for the aforementioned 1942... bliss

Where ever did you pick up on Herradura, Chuck?:-D

Gran Centenario is another excellent premium tequila.

The best of the super premiums IMHO is Herradura Selection Suprema.

1800 Silver Select 100 Proof Tequila.

100 agave. 100 proof.

Dangerously GOOD especially with the built in shot glass.:-D

Let's see if I can bring this thread back to life!

I love tequila, I've been building a home bar for a few years now, and Anejo Tequila has been my favorite spirit since I was introduced to it in a Miami Beach Bar in 2007.

My absolute favorite is Orgullo Pueblo Viejo Anejo. Not expensive, say around 40$ US in San Francisco where i picked it up, and just a marvelous, complex tasting experience. I would pay anything if the booze barons that run Canada's liquour stores would actually cave in and bring it up here!

Other favorites include

Don Julio 1942 (spicy and smooth....if that makes sense!)

Chamucos Reposado Especial (A little lighter than Anejos - but still bursting with flavour!)

Partida Anejo (just a good all-around anejo)

and my first anejo from that bar in Miami Beach - Don Julio Anejo.

Pairing with a Cigar? I like the Orgullo with a Bolivar, Sancho Panza or even Cohiba. Grassy taste blends with agave....

I am a strict Don Julio drinker when it comes to Tequila. Just can't beat it in my opinion.
