Mark Twain Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hey guys I need some info. Some one wants to trade me a Cohiba 35th annv. and the story of its origin is highly suspect to me. I have very little info on these cigars and I would like a detailed picture of bands for comparison to the picture I provided below. Warning signs? 1.) Guy says he bought it in a cermanic jar which I have never heard the 35th come in. 2.) Says it only cost him $270 for the jar. Thanks in advance for you help.
El Presidente Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 There was no ceramic jar. They were released in a humidor comprising 135 cigars - 35 Lanceros - 20 Espléndidos - 20 Robustos - 20 Siglo V - 20 Gran Corona - 20 Pirámides Sorry mate :-|
Black Plague Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 There was a ceramic jar of Dalia-sized cigars for the Cohiba 30th anniversary...but no such animal for the 35th. They're fake as a three dollar bill. :-(

I'm sorry for the poor SOB that bought them cause I ain't gonna trade for it unless it's to smoke it to see what fakes smoke like.
smokum Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 You would think these crooks would get together and at LEAST make the bands the same...
smokum Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 That absolutely blows my mind...damn these people are well organised to come up with this level of detail.
Strangg1 Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 » There was a ceramic jar of Dalia-sized cigars for the Cohiba 30th » anniversary...but no such animal for the 35th. They're fake as a three » dollar bill. :-( There were the Milleniums that came in cermaic jars, they were Piramides, and the labels they used on the Milleniums don't look anythign like the Anniversary or standard Cohiba labels. I find it funny that the people selling fakes are constantly selling things that never existed, you'd think they'd at least do a bit of research and try to come close. ~S
BigSlick Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 On the other hand you would be surprised to tell a person that you know is BUYING them that they are fake and they tell YOU how full of **** you are. This being the guy that supplied the cigars in post #2 of this thread. :-|
Ginseng Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Hi Big, I'm sorry, I have not done so yet. I do have enough specimens for a Cohiba 30th, 35th, 40th Anni expose but just have not gotten to it. I've got time this summer to write one, maybe two big counterfeit articles but have not yet chosen the subjects. These days, I try to leverage my specimens by analyzing in groups instead of singles. It takes just a bit more time and I think provides a broader context for understanding. My teaching load has been simply crushing this summer "break." Wilkey
Ben Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 » That absolutely blows my mind...damn these people are well organised to » come up with this level of detail. Your not wrong. Has the same attention been paid to the sticks themselves or are they just ****?
jsd Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Condolences to the poor guy who originally bought these. Glad to hear you didnt pull the trigger and get taken.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 » here are some pics of the packaging. Looks too good to be fake, but they » are. » » » A hell of a lot of work and some serious planning went into those cigars/fakes. I have no doubt that the people involved in these higher lever fakes are well connected currently or previously within the Cuban cigar industry. The margins would be astronomical.
BigSlick Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Image from CP from MilesMingusMonk. Not lookin good.
