Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3

Recommended Posts

Rob kindly gave me one for a review - it being what he described as his favourite cigar, though whether that means ‘best’, I leave to him. Not a size I usually smoke often but after this, might do so on a much more regular basis. Opened with a lovely rich fruit and nut character, hints of old leather and quite a peppery note. Quite dense flavours. Good start. These flavours soon melded together with the fruitcake, fruit and nut characters to the fore and joined by some orange rind notes. The flavours increased in volume over the smoke but never got out of control and the cigar developed some really attractive depth. There was a nice slow draw, tight but not too tight. Did need to re-light once or twice but won’t hold that against it as the construction overall was very good. A smoke that just got better and better. Finished with a lovely aftertaste and was a real finger burner. 91-92 and I’ll be around tomorrow.

Of course, the fact that I smoked it in the final hours of that fantastic Ashes Test in Adelaide may have distracted me from the task of reviewing in normal circumstances but the cigar was good enough to hold my attention through that nerve-wracking experience.

Nice review Ken. While I have not picked quite as much fruit flavors as you have described, I can appreciate where you are with them. The Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.3 is a keeper for sure and all three sizes of the du Connaisseur line are worthy to be maintained in regular rotation. Smoking this cigar for me is ...... Magic! I love them!!!

Ken... I take back every nasty thing I ever said (or even thought) about you. You are obviously a man of good judgment and impeccable taste.

What year was that #3? The young ones will give you an exciting roll in the hay, alright, but anything older than 7 or 8 years will love you slow and easy.

The one Ken tried was April 06.

He just popped in for a cigar on the deck. He left with two boxes of Cohiba Pirimides Edicion Limitada 06 and an 06 box of Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3.

I love it when Ken comes to visit ;-)

» The Sdc 3 looks like the cigar Clint Eastwood is smoking in those old

» classic westerns like A Fistful of Dollars & Hang 'em High. My question

» is would you consider this panatela to be light, medium or full bodied?

The Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 is actually a Carlotas, and I would say that they are a full bodied cigar from my experience smoking them.

On a side note, the Partagas looks a hell of a lot better than a Clint Eastwood Toscani.

shrink, i always assumed that was what you really thought. it was an 06 and i would have it tending to full rather than medium though not absolute full throttle. heaps of flavour. as rob so kindly mentioned, i did depart with a full box yesterday. now i wish it were two so i could 'try' and age one.

Ken, see if you can cadge an aged one from Rob, under the guise of doing a promo. He'll deny having any, but I suspect he has a couple of antique cabs in hiding. If he won't cough one up, I'll shame him and send you a couple.

LOL... Ain't that the truth Tampa.... the Toscani looked like a dog rocket...

I have to say you were the one who pointed me in the direction of the Part. Serie du conn #3.

I aboslutely love those cigars.

As a matter a fact I smoked one today while outside putting up christmas lights.
