VigorishSLC Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 The Simpsons....and it isn't even close! :-)
anacostiakat Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 » seeking nominations for the best ever TV series. » for me, i caught an old episode of 'buffy' the other night and realised » i'd forgotten just how good it was. » my nomination is - "buffy, the vampire slayer". Archie Bunker. . .
El Presidente Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Cracker. Robbie Coltraine was sensational as the lead. It was refreshing to see an obese, intelligent, chain smoking, manic depressive, alcoholic philanderer who could still solve crimes through the haze of self inflicted abuse.....and still pick up chicks :-D
Mike33 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 For me its: -The West Wing -The Simpsons Kind of a great divide bewtween the two....:-D
jseeds Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I'm with Ken on this one...Buffy #1 no doubt. It had it all...young women, vampires, good writing, dark humor, etc. #2 would have to be Twin Peaks... #3 would have to be LOST
Ken Gargett Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 » Most recent, I have 4 that are so different, its hard to place one above » the other: » » Lost » 24 » Dexter » Nip/Tuck » » Past: » » Seinfeld lost and 24 both seriously excellent. never seen nip/tuck but met one of the actresses at main beach. plays a coke addict married to one of the main guys or divorced. not sure. lovely girl. chatted for about 3 hours - i think she felt safe as every bloke on the coast was hitting on her (how sad is that). for hollywood actress, i was surprised at what a great fan of bush she was (that is george).
Tony Maduro Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 For me, it's a constant battle between The Sopranos and Seinfeld. Seinfeld will always hold a slight lead though.
Cam Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 The Sopranos. For the raw, real, hilarious drama. I even went on the Sopranos tour in New York and met some cast members.
El Presidente Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 » i think she felt safe as every bloke on the coast was hitting on her (how » sad is that). ....don't say it Rob....DONT"T SAY IT!
Ken Gargett Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 that is why i said it first - so much for the truce.
dragon Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I've always enjoyed: Hawaii 5-0 Miami Vice The Beverly Hillbillies ...and my all time favorite was Rod Serlings Night Gallery

My vote goes to "Firefly". If you like Buffy, you'll love Firefly. Shame that it only lasted one season. If you haven't seen it, pick up the DVD of the series. I'm still hoping that one day the SciFi channel will pick it up and continue where the movie "Serenity" left off. BTW, "Serenity" IMHO, is one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Deserves to be in the same league as Blade Runner, Alien, and 2001.
mongboy Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 The Sopranos The Simpsons Honourable Mentions : The Office (UK Version) The Young Ones
Stalebread Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 » seeking nominations for the best ever TV series. » for me, i caught an old episode of 'buffy' the other night and realised » i'd forgotten just how good it was. » my nomination is - "buffy, the vampire slayer". Yes. Buffy! For a sit-com I liked Davis Rules. Randy Quaid and Jonathan Winters. Only on one season -- 1991. Maybe two.
Stahlberg Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 » » my nomination is - "buffy, the vampire slayer". Joss Whedon is a genius writer/director. If you liked 'Buffy', you will probably also like 'Angel' (gets continuously better and 'darker' from season 1), Firefly (as mentioned), and Veronica Mars (not Joss' but he heartily recommends it, even starred in one episode). 'Tru Calling' isn't too bad, not great but not bad... if you liked Eliza Dushku as Faith, you'll probably like this one. Sadly it was cancelled just as it was hitting its stride. 'Twin Peaks' is another old favorite. 'Lost' was very refreshing for the first 2 seasons, then the constant disappointments inherent in never reaching any sort of final answer starts to wear thin. The new 'Battlestar Galactica' is truly a milestone in tv history. For comedy I have to say 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'.
habanablue Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Married with Children man what a classic!! The Bundy's were the most amusing dysfunctional family of the mid 90s!
anacostiakat Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Oh and right now I am hooked on Dexter!
Tiny Tim Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I have to go with Seinfeld! Funniest dang show ever! Well, it's in the top 5 anyway! ;-)
hoagie55 Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Without a doubt - MASH I also enjoy Magnum P.I. Alias was really good for a while, until they tried to get too cute. You gotta love Jennifer Gardner in all of the crazy outfits!!! And for you western fans - Gunsmoke! Drama - the original Law and Order!!
phxkev Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 None of y'all are being honest. Maude and Golden Girls were the best shows ever. No real man can deny the sex appeal of the one and only Bea Arthur. She's a bad mama jama. She's hot and I love in her any and every way a man can love a woman.
stever Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Fairytale Theatre. Definitely check out the Frog Prince episode with Robin Williams. Hilarious! Fawlty Towers The Black Adder Blake's Seven (British Sci Fi series from the late seventies/early eighties. Way ahead of its time.) First two seasons of Six Feet Under
