When these were released at this year’s Festival in Havana, Rob and I were not completely in agreement (no, I can’t believe it either). I found them too young, a little green and finishing a bit harsh. Undoubtedly there was some potential but I wasn’t sure how much. Rob was far more positive (well, he has to sell them, doesn’t he?). I put a few away and didn’t mean to try them for a few years. Rob suggested I give them another go (I did but only probably because I wanted to prove him wrong - again). Whoops. A hell of a lot of that early potential has kicked in and these are almost unrecognisable. From distinctly nonplused, I am now a fan. They have developed a fullness and richness and some attractive spicy notes (I tried several just to make sure I didn’t jag one that had come on but notes were largely consistent and if anything, over a month or two of looking at them, they continued to improve during that time - who knows how much these have left in them?). They were a little tight still but the construction was good, though the burn did head up the centre to start and then was a smidge ragged at the end. There was some roasted nut flavours and a character, quite pleasant, like clumps of dried earth. They are youthful but on the rise and would not be out of place in any humidor. They pass the more-ish test. 90.

This is good to hear. I have been holding out for the tubos but I might have belay that and go ahead and get some.

Tubos are allready available in Switzerland. At least in three-packs.

Thanks for the review, Ken. My limited experience reveals a cigar with more potential than either the Churchill or Ex#4. Strong, tannic and spicy, with all the underlying RyJ flavors. Not ready for prime time, that's for sure, but full of promise.

what it actully means, if you read carefully is that rob was completely wrong at the relevant time and only through dodgy luck is not looking quite so stupid now.

Hi Ken,

I too put those samples away we received in February & only had one this weekend past at a restaurant in Santiago de Cuba. I don't know if I agree with you (yet), as it was still pretty green & tarty. I've since put them back at the bottom of the humidor for another 6 months.
