Long, long time cigar smoker that graduted from Thompsons in college to Macs to boutique to super premiums to ISOMs. I enjoy a variety of cigars and share my experiences with my son and many others in our area. Nothing better than kicking back with a good quality churchill after a long day in the salt mines.

Welcome to FOH.

While I know that on several cigar boards people use the acronym of "ISOM", but want you to know that many experienced Cuban cigar smokers disapprove of that term. What Island South of Miami might you be referring to? Don't you think it is rather hard to smoke a whole Island?

I know that the term is just a silly acronym, but it dates back to when many Americans were concerned with governmental security looking in on communications on the Internet and fear that someone might think they were talking about Cuban Cigars. Really, the usefulness of the term is long past.

Many of the experienced Cuban Cigar smokers take the use of the term with a grain of salt, as it is just a silly acronym. But others that are very passionate about their love of the Sovereign Nation, the people, the culture, and the pride of the people that toil out in the hot humid sun growing the tobacco and the workers that work the tobacco and the rollers that craft the fine cigars we all enjoy feel that out of Respect, that the cigars should be properly called what they are, Cuban Cigars. So, as you travel around the Internet, you may come across people that take offense to the term because they feel that it is disrespectful to the people that have labored to make them.

After all, we are on a cigar board that is dedicated to being Friends Of Habanos, which is a Cuban Cigar.

Please don't take this as a scolding, which it is not, but an explanation of the term and why some experienced Cuban cigar smokers find the silly acronym a waste of time and disrespect to the people that have made the fine cigars we enjoy.

Welcome to FOH, please read, contribute, have fun and enjoy!

Interesting.

I have been smoking cigars for over 35 years and never had someone, find issue with this term. Must be an internet thing. It is certainly not meant to be disrespectful as these are the finest cigars in the world. It is indeed a term used by many careful smokers throughout the US that lived through the panic and blockade and do not take anything about the continuation of the ban lightly. I appreciate your opinion as I do anyone's who truly believes they are being informative.
