Bolivar Belicoso Fino

» These are such great cigars. Straightforward, knock you on your ass full

» bodied smoke. One of my favorites.

I must smoke wau too much. They are good and flavorful but not as strong as others mention. Would say the Boli Coronas would be a better choice for flavor and strength

» What can I say about this cigar? IMO it is, and always has been, the

» king of torpedos/belicosos.

Ok guys, after reading this review{almost made me cry}... and having indulged & enjoyed several other BOLIVARS in the past,(I do like the NEW Bolivar '05 from the Dominican Republic)... I had to make this one the first one I picked up in Canada. The Humidor was great, 70/70, smelled fantastic, the stick was beautiful, light Colorado in color, just a bit oily, soft to the touch ( just like those virgin thighs of tales told), smelled perfectly yummy, like those thighs, oops, sorry.

Victoria itself is a little wet these days 100% humidity & maybe 50 degrees, but the humidor felt great. I picked the best looking & feeling stick, took it to my room, stored it in my travel hurf-a-dor for 2 days, then I collected a snifter of 150 year old Grand Marinier, made the cut, tasted it for the draw and what a peppery, spicy chunck of flavor it had. Gave the foot a nice toasting with 2 cedar matches and started to enjoy my puro... it burned uneven, didnt draw well after a very short time, the ash went funky and 2 toned grey/white... no beautiful, thick plumes of smoke, GOD, I missed that. As hard and as long as I had to suck on that bastard of a cigar... well, I have a new respect for my wife. 1/2 way through, in the middle, the wrapper started to fall apart & come off too, what the hell is that?

Bottom line, the flavor was awesome, but if I have to work that hard to enjoy it, well, I just dont know!

Box code YKV may 05... I know, its just a baby, thats why I will get me a box and store 'um up a few years & try it again.

I think it was either just too damn humid or I got frigged.

$30 wasted dollars, in my opinion., Damn expensive Kanooks!:-(

P-bob,

I’ve been made to understand that the Canucks get inferior sticks; maybe just because Habanos knows there are many Yanks who will cross the border, shell out crazy dollars and in the end come away with one sad smoke.

Remember the rule, KNOW YOUR VENDOR!:ok:

THAT, my friend is WHY I joined this group, thank you very much! I have been purchasing from a cigar co. in Vancouver .com (get it?) for a while, and YES they are bloody expensive, but I THOUGHT I could trust this vendor... guess I cant, bummer. Maybe I will shop in the southern latitudes for a while??

» Muted cigars and sick periods deserve a thread of their own. The BBF is

» subject more than most IMHO to a muted period.

»

» I can have say 10 boxes of August 04 and 50% will be muted in flavour and

» 50% robust and superb. All same factory.

»

» In my experience and again...IMHO...you reduce the risk of an intense Sick

» Period of no flavour by choosing Light tan to Colorado wrapperrd BBF with

» nice blotches of oil. The higher risk BBF have a darker thicker wrapper

» which are rough to the touch. They can look spectacular but again I think

» the thicker young wrapper creates an imbalance to the cigar which takes an

» age to get right.

»

» When I choose a dark wrapper under instruction...I try to choose the

» thinnest wrapper possible.

Fabulous information. And such consideration and service. You, sir, are amazing and everything I've been told.

Wilkey
