Well Armed Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 What are your opinions on the long term aging potential of the Trini Reyes? They are very good right now. I have Nov 05 boxes that taste like they should be Nov 95! What are your thoughts?

I do not see why these would not age extremely well. I look forward to trying a 5 year old box. Has classic written all over it.

NO doubt these are the richest cocoa bombers in the half corona size..and dare i say one of the tastiest cigars Ive had in the past 6 months. I def see it aging into a classic
Ken Gargett Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 i'd very surprised if they didn't get better and better for a good few years yet. i'm enjoying some now but trying to hold off for a few years at least.
Well Armed Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Every time I smoke one I am AMAZED at the flavor and aroma. It is like a bittersweet vanilla cocoa mousse explosion with tons light cappucino undertones. They seriously amaze me. But they are too new of a cigar to have any real impressions of longer term aging. If they age like a Fundy I think we will be in for a serious treat - at least those of us who bought 15 boxes so by the time we have smoked 14 of them the last will have at least a couple of years age on 'em! ha ha
Tampa1257 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Aging Potential for Trinidad Reyes? Right! Like the ONLY way these will ever get any age on them is to buy them and have Rob hide them from me for 5 years!
anacostiakat Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I would think they have great potential. Unfortunately I smoked all of mine!
Taino Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I don't think in them as vintage potential, a '05-'06 box I think it will be at his best somewhere between 2 to 5 years from now. I think if you push them harder they will start loosing flavor and complexity. ...but this is something very personal...
Mel Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I have a hard time aging small cigars. I think it is because I do not take them very seriously. The little treats just seem to go down so fast. I'd have to buy five boxes and try to founder on them with the first three and then the other two might survive for a while.
Well Armed Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 I agree, Mel. I have a hard time taking small cigars very seriously. But, this is a cigar that demands respect and attention. Every time I smoke one while f'in around in the woodshop I always end up sitting down and studying the flavors. After about 5 times of doing this I really had to respect this cigar's ability to tame my ADD! I'm stocking up. In 2010 there will be a select few of us with tons of the cute little boxes full of these and we can taunt everyone with them.
habanohal Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I dont see how much better they can get with age. They are a phenominal cigar right now. Even from 2006

If I were to guess I would think that 5 years would accentuate what is great about these right now "FLAVOUR" I am one of those who prefers Flavour over "elegance".
Professor Twain Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 This discussion is undermining my will, I have a July 05 box that I haven't touched. Will power...

Maybe you will send me one so you can show me what a fool I was. On the other side I would expect a small cigar to need far less than ten years to mature. Five is probably plenty and I would guess that three will work wonders.

These cigars have no aging potential once I have received them and waited for them to stabilize in my humidor.I suspect that in five years I'll have a dandy collection of those little wooden boxes, however!
DrAlejandro Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 the reyes are exellent smokes... no reason to think they wont age beautifully. then again like some of the other guys said they're so damn good we might never find out :-D
