Ken Gargett Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 have been chatting with rob about including a separate section for forum members relating to wine (like we have the fakes and the reviews sections etc, even if most people seem just to use the general section). there seems to be a reeasonable level of interest but there are specialised wine forums (which seem to take themselves very seriously) and we are not lookinhg to replicate that. it would be very much exactly on the lines of the forum as it works now (as in, everything i say is inspired and rob is to be endlessly bagged). only rule is that anyone who likes sauv blanc is automatically expelled. is there enough interest out there from members or should we just leave things as they are?
El Presidente Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Ken Do you know anyone with wine experience who can chair the section ?
Ken Gargett Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 » Ken » » Do you know anyone with wine experience who can chair the section ? we have got by for several years without anyone having a clue about cigars. i don't see why this should be any different.
SuperT Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I'd love to have one, but if you do - I'm expelled. If I don't TALK about Sauvignon Blanc, can I still play? I'm a HUGE red fan, Cab, Pinot Noir, Shriaz/Sryah, Petit Sirah, Blends . . . Favorites are David Bruce Petit Syrah, Three Rings Shiraz (Austrailian), and Rex Goliath 47 Pound Rooster Pinot to name a few. . . I also know of three or four other board members that are REALLY into wine and could offer a lot of input.

connoiseur29 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 it's a great idea, let's test it out and see how it goes
jay8354 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I think that this is a great idea, but could we expand the idea to include wine, spirits and fortified instead? Or one of each, thought I am not sure if there are going to be enough posts / input for each one. I am just mentioning since we seem to have a lot of interests from the amount of threads in the cigar forum already. Just my 0.02 worth

Fortunately, I can't stand Sauvignon Blanc, so I guess I'm eligible. When do you think you might start reviewing my favorite, White Zinfandel? Actually, anything available in jugs is of interest. Thanks.
El Presidente Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 The World of Wine Forum is now open. Good luck Ken
Colt45 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 » Actually, anything available in jugs is of interest. Thanks. The hell you say! Next it'll be box-o-wine and screw caps!

I actually like Sauv Blanc during the summer or with some blackened fish on the grill. Anyway, I won't mention it here. Three Rings Shiraz - http://www.wine.com/wineshop/product_detai...u=p_family_name I think I paid a few bucks more, but it is a stellar wine and worth every penny (great bang for your buck).
Wiley Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Ken, I'll promise to post if you promise not to point out every time I'm talking out my ass.
JMH Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Awesome. I was thinking about suggesting something like this a month or two ago but let the idea go. I'm not really a fan of white at all, so I should be sweet on the sauv blanc front :-)
Ken Gargett Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 » I think that this is a great idea, but could we expand the idea to include » wine, spirits and fortified instead? i am assuming that even though dubbed wine, it will be a general beverage thread.
Ken Gargett Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 » » Actually, anything available in jugs is of interest. Thanks. » » The hell you say! habanablue Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 » Ken » » Do you know anyone with wine experience who can chair the section ? I'll put my hand up Prez, with Ken on the other side of the world most days you need a local who knows more about wine then Ken anyway to chair this prestigious board.:-D
skid11 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Great Idea Ken, Looking forward to this thread Fine Cigars and Wine a match made in heaven.:-D
Mikey Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Great idea...I'll be looking forward to this. "Hi,I'm Mikey....Habano ***** and Pinot Noir ****...pleased to make your aquaintance!" :-D
dogbreath Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 My wife and I tried an Argentine Restaurant for our anniversary over the weekend. Had a bottle of Trapiche 2004 Pinot Noir which went well to wash down the garlic. Very mellow, somewhat fruity.
