a wine thread

Recommended Posts

have been chatting with rob about including a separate section for forum members relating to wine (like we have the fakes and the reviews sections etc, even if most people seem just to use the general section). there seems to be a reeasonable level of interest but there are specialised wine forums (which seem to take themselves very seriously) and we are not lookinhg to replicate that. it would be very much exactly on the lines of the forum as it works now (as in, everything i say is inspired and rob is to be endlessly bagged). only rule is that anyone who likes sauv blanc is automatically expelled.

is there enough interest out there from members or should we just leave things as they are?

I'd love to have one, but if you do - I'm expelled.

If I don't TALK about Sauvignon Blanc, can I still play?

I'm a HUGE red fan, Cab, Pinot Noir, Shriaz/Sryah, Petit Sirah, Blends . . .

Favorites are David Bruce Petit Syrah, Three Rings Shiraz (Austrailian), and Rex Goliath 47 Pound Rooster Pinot to name a few. . .

I also know of three or four other board members that are REALLY into wine and could offer a lot of input.

if you promise to forego drinking sauv blanc ever again, we may make an exception.

did you mean three rivers? three rings might be a export only label that we don't see.

I think that this is a great idea, but could we expand the idea to include wine, spirits and fortified instead? Or one of each, thought I am not sure if there are going to be enough posts / input for each one.

I am just mentioning since we seem to have a lot of interests from the amount of threads in the cigar forum already.

Just my 0.02 worth :)

Fortunately, I can't stand Sauvignon Blanc, so I guess I'm eligible. When do you think you might start reviewing my favorite, White Zinfandel? Actually, anything available in jugs is of interest. Thanks.

I actually like Sauv Blanc during the summer or with some blackened fish on the grill. Anyway, I won't mention it here. :lookaround:

Three Rings Shiraz -

I think I paid a few bucks more, but it is a stellar wine and worth every penny (great bang for your buck).

Awesome. I was thinking about suggesting something like this a month or two ago but let the idea go. I'm not really a fan of white at all, so I should be sweet on the sauv blanc front :-)

» The hell you say! Next it'll be box-o-wine and screw caps!

screwcaps is the way of the future. had an email from fosters the other day canvassing thoughts of writers if the top penny's - ie grange - were to go under s/cap.

all for it.

» Do you know anyone with wine experience who can chair the section ?

I'll put my hand up Prez, with Ken on the other side of the world most days you need a local who knows more about wine then Ken anyway to chair this prestigious board.:-D
