JohnS Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The marketing around this, as mentioned in the article, suggests that the especially light Connecticut Shade wrapper makes all the difference. Has anyone tried this to confirm? Macanudo Gold Label Gets Box-Pressed Bullion May 4, 2026 - By Gregory Mottola Photos/General Cigar Co. A limited-edition size in the Macanudo Gold Label series is making its way to retailers today. Called Gold Bullion, the cigar is a box-pressed toro measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge. It comes in 20-count boxes and has a suggested retail price of $13.49 each. In addition to this year’s limited-edition Gold Bullion, brand owner General Cigar Co. is also shipping the line’s core six sizes. What sets the Macanudo Gold Label apart from the more popular Macanudo Café line is the especially light Connecticut shade wrapper. Both brands are draped in leaves of Connecticut shade, but wrappers for the Gold Label are culled from a lower position on the tobacco plant, resulting in less sun exposure for tobacco that is lighter in both color and body. The line was introduced in 2002. Because the yield of such wrappers is low, General only releases Macanudo Gold Label cigars in limited quantities each year. Çnote Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Out of morbid curiosity I'll look for this, but I don't see alot of Macanudo where I shop. 1
Chibearsv Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I don't think I've smoked a Macanudo since the early 80s. I smoked a bunch of them when I was 16-22 years old. I remember enjoying them. I have no idea how that would translate today. 2
