Dr vonPuffenberg Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Heading back to Spain in a few weeks and I think I’ll take advantage of the opportunity to drink some Cuban rum. I have very little experience with rum but I guess I was planning on having a glass on the rocks. Thoughts? Also, do rum aficionados prefer aged or “clear” rum? Thanks! P.S. what are some good bottles to look for?
BrightonCorgi Posted April 18 Posted April 18 There's only one way to drink rum in New England; Scorpion Bowl 1

Lucas Buck Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I’ve always enjoyed rum neat. It’s such a great sipper and pairs so well with Cuban cigars. I’ve only had a few Cuban rums but loved them all. Havana Club 7 is a great starting point. For something a little different Legendario rum liqueur is a favorite. There are many others here with much more experience than I. 4
Nohiba Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I agree with Lucas, neat is the way to go! I also agree that there will be rum connoisseurs on here who’ve probably tried some amazing stuff, but for me an easily available Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is a great everyday sipper that pairs excellently with CCs and doesn’t break the bank either. 4
Joeyjojo Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Low - mid level rums I'll have over an ice cube. For something a bit more upmarket and barrel proof, like a Foursquare, I'll drink like a single malt and start neat and 'tune up' with a little water if needed. 3
JoshD Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Anywhere but the beach- neat, in a Glencairn glass At the beach- mixed up in a Painkiller! 3
