JohnS Posted April 6 Posted April 6 If you aren't aware, Gurkha gets a 'bad rap' on our forum for trying to over-market their releases over the years. By that I mean that they oversell their releases as luxury cigars when they are not in that class. Now, in recent times, that may have changed. Frankly, I'm not sure (but only because I'm not that interested). Anyway, I didn't realise that their Vice President of sales, Juan Lopez ( ed. - what a beautiful name that is!) had 'chalked up' thirty years in the industry. Kudos to anyone who has seen the ups and downs over that stretch of time in this field. It ain't easy! There's someone else we all know who has similarly committed thirty years in this industry, but we'll save that for another thread, won't we? Gurkha Launches Tres Décadas April 6, 2026 - Press Release Gurkha Cigar Group, Inc. is proud to announce the release of Tres Décadas, a limited-edition cigar created in honor of Juan Lopez, Vice President of Sales, and his thirty years of dedicated service to the cigar industry. According to Juan Lopez, the project is deeply personal: “Thirty years in the cigar industry is something I take great pride in, and being able to mark that milestone makes it even more meaningful. This project is a reflection of everything I’ve learned over the years, staying focused on quality, consistency, and delivering a cigar that truly resonates with today’s consumer. We approached this blend with patience and purpose to create something that truly reflects my approach to the craft. I’m proud to bring this project to market in partnership with Gurkha, and I’m confident it represents both my journey in this business and the standards that come with it.” “Tres Décadas is a testament to what three decades of dedication look like,” said Jim Colucci, President and CEO of Gurkha Cigar Group. “Juan has been an extraordinary force in this industry, and this cigar captures that legacy in every draw. We are honored to bring this release to market and share it with the enthusiasts who have followed his journey alongside us.” Tres Décadas will be available in three sizes, each strictly limited to 1,000 boxes worldwide: Robusto 5×52 – 10 ct. Box | $119.50 Toro 6×50 – 10 ct. Box | $125.00 Gordo 6.5×56 – 10 ct. Box | $129.50 Cigar retailers, distributors, and industry professionals are invited to visit Gurkha at booth number 2713 at the PCA Trade Show in New Orleans, April 18–20, 2026. Given the strictly limited production, early orders are strongly encouraged. Source: https://www.cigarjournal.com/gurkha-launches-tres-decadas/ 1 1
JDoughty Posted April 7 Posted April 7 People have gifted me with Gurkhas over the years, thinking they are good because of all the marketing hype. Spoiler alert: they are not good. Never tried one that didn't taste like dirt. Though some have had more complex notes of aged compost heap with assorted rotten vegetables. 4
BrightonCorgi Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I've never had one of their cigars. The forums have snake bitten me. Are they that bad?

Of the gifted and presumably rare/expensive ones I have attempted to smoke out of courtesy, some have been merely meh, but some were memorably awful. I wasn't kidding about tasting dirt and old compost heap with decayed vegetal notes. I can't be sure of what they did to those things while aging the leaves, but I am guessing that they fed their cows some premium quality produce before utilizing the pass-through byproducts as a humidor. Gotta justify the price point somehow. 1
