Mr. DD Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Just don’t keep it in your pocket.🤣 Quantify the tightness of your stick. 😆 3
Popular Post El Presidente Posted March 17 Popular Post Posted March 17 I know the people at Raching. Good folk who have carved out a magnificent niche in the electronic humidor business. Scratching my head...but isn't taking a draw after clipping your cigar...all you need to know? HOWEVER...if it could insert a draw poker and deliver a draw to your minimum flow standard.....now you have a product. No charge to my friends at Raching! 1 4

Perhaps it's to test the draw before giving a cigar to your friend without passing on your cooties. I mean can you imagine the shame of Kirby giving a plugged cigar to Dominique in the Monaco Casino!? (Of course that would never happen. Kirby wouldn't give out one of his cigars. But you know, hypothetically speaking.) 6

I can’t wait to bring this one up. Who needs to test cigar draw on the fly but can’t use their mouth? The product seems unnecessary to anyone except a quality control manager walking around a rolling floor. Once a cigar is cut you’re generally pot committed - be it with a friend or sitting down at a retail shop. I’m not sure how this changes anything.
Cigar Surgeon Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I use the Cigar Medics draw tester. Like others I can't see a place for this in my travel bag. 1
zacca Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I’ll preface by saying I recognize there isn’t much a need for most people. That said, as a data junkie who geeks out on gadgets, it’s a way to measure and record data points, so when I give ratings I can start to find patterns. The other thing I’ve been experimenting with is cutting a cigar and then letting it rest for a bit in a dry box. Trying to get more consistency and less moisture gradients throughout the stick because the head almost always has a higher moisture content than the foot. This would just be a way to capture data around this. So yeah, definitely not for everyone but it’s not totally useless. 3
JohnS Posted March 23 Posted March 23 RACHING Introduces Portable Draw Resistance Tester March 21, 2026 - Jorge Tapies RACHING has introduced a new device aimed at measuring cigar draw resistance in a portable format. According to the company, the product is the first handheld unit designed to combine draw resistance measurement with predictive indicators related to cigar humidity and smoke output. The RACHING Portable Draw Resistance Tester incorporates a high-precision flow sensor and is designed for one-handed operation. The unit accommodates cigars up to a 70 ring gauge and features a food-grade silicone inspection port. A transparent LED display provides real-time readings during use. The device is positioned as a tool for both retailers and consumers seeking a more standardized method of evaluating draw performance prior to smoking. In addition to measuring resistance, the system is intended to offer indicative data on internal cigar conditions, described by the manufacturer as a form of “cigar weather forecasting.” The tester is powered by a rechargeable battery with fast-charging capability. The unit has a net weight of 642.5 grams and comes in packaging measuring 78 × 129 × 233 mm, with a gross weight of 936.9 grams. No pricing or distribution details were disclosed at the time of announcement. Source: https://www.cigarjournal.com/raching-introduces-portable-draw-resistance-tester/
Popular Post ATGroom Posted March 23 Popular Post Posted March 23 Seems like a good tool for lounges that sell singles. Sommelier can ask, "and how does sir prefer his draw?" and then go find what the customer wants. Or even better, "might I suggest that sir try a Wide Churchill? We have a batch that are drawing at 60 inches of water right now that are quite magnificent." Just adds to part of the show in places like that. If nothing else, a quick check before handing it to the customer should reduce the people who send back plugged cigars. That said, beyond a few hundred high end lounges world wide, and a few serious nerds who like to keep a smoking diary with the draw pressures recorded, and a few "gifts for him" that wind up in a drawer with a flat battery, it's hard to see the market for these being worth the R&D. 5
