JohnnyO Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Some options for getting around town. The double decker bus goes from Marina Hemingway to Playas del Este for $10/all day use. It's normally 9-5 and stops at the major points of interest every 30 minutes or so. If there isn't a stop for where you want to go along the route, I'm sure if you throw the driver a couple dollars he'll help you out. The yellow government run taxis are still operating. The airport rate was $25 but some have bumped it up to $30. Those drivers are getting gas but only 20 liters at a time at a subsidized rate. They have to register to different gas stations all around town, are given a # and wait for a message to pick up their 20 liters. So, in-between customers they are getting gas. There are also some Uber type services that provide drivers up until midnight. Their rates are 4-5 times of what they were before 2/7/26. If you rent a car they have limited it to 50 liters/day and there are no lines at $1.30/liter. So there is gas just not for the locals. John 4

I would be willing to bet that some crude was on those ships and that the toilet paper and body wash is just window dressing. 5

TomsRibs210 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 With these two oil barons out of commission, I can’t see how they unstick this. 1

chris12381 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 American Airlines just filed an amended motion with DOT requesting a temporary dormancy waiver for all U.S.–Cuba frequencies between March 29th and October 24th. Not just a couple routes, all of them. That's basically the bulk of remaining scheduled air carrier service between the US and Cuba. They currently hold 8x daily MIA-HAV plus ~6x daily MIA-non-Havana flights. The filing cites collapsing demand tied to the grid instability, fuel shortages, and service failures inside Cuba. They explicitly say they have not decided to exit the market, but want the flexibility to not operate while conditions are unstable. The DOT has repeatedly granted identical waivers to Delta, JetBlue, United and others multiple times so approval certain. https://downloads.regulations.gov/DOT-OST-2016-0021-1506/attachment_1.pdf
