Love the vid. So melodramatic!  The cigar version of "The Bold and the Beautiful". :lol3:

The video shows that first shipment of Cameroon tobacco, and includes a personal message from company leader Carlos Fuente Jr. to his customers. You can view the video below.

Hahaha! It really is a fun video. And, while Carlos may be bold, he's no Rena Sofer!

Man, I laughed out loud watching that. If there was any question whether there was any animosity between Meerapfels and Fuentes there is your answer.

My wife is Dominican, I joke all the time that Dominicans love to (1) dramatize everything to outrageous levels and (2) bring in the legacy of “la familia” to just bring the emotion to levels you couldn’t without doing so. Extra points if you can involve a conversation that happened on a death bed.

“We’re having chicken AGAIN for dinner? On my father’s DEATH BED he looked me in the eye and told me, never more than twice a week!”

My wife actually grew up with the Fuente family. I have gotten to know Carlito reasonably well, mostly running into him flying in/out of MIA airport. Extremely generous and personable guy. She will get a kick out of this.

All drama aside, I'm glad to hear the news. I really do enjoy their Cameroon cigars and would be quite bummed if they weren't available or doubled in price.

I'm curious about the gossip. People cannot shut up something must leak out soon.

Clearly they are far from the only Cameroon growers or controllers. Someone has enough supply for Fuente and they are 10M cigars a year producers.

What is it about Cameron wrappers anyway...?

I personally think Cameroon leaf improves the Fuente blends. I’m not a big fan of the typical Fuente offerings, and think the Opus X blends (which can be very good) are usually over-rated or over-peppery. My favorite Fuentes are the Don Carlos and the Hemingways. Both lines use Cameroon leaf and are fantastic daily cigars.

* Edited to include...I'm very curious to see if/how the change in supplier will impact their blends.

Ah ha! I had no idea the SS was a Cameroon wrapper. Tried a few and have liked them.

My only other experience, I didn't like so much, is the Aladino Cameron Robusto.

Thanks.

Fuuny, I also didn't care for the Aladino. I've had many Cameroon blends and most fall short. Fuente and Meeriphfel blend it best, but Fuente does it at a fraction of what Meeriphfel charge.

I recall reading that Cameroon was the preferred wrapper after the embargo, makers thought it most closely matched the Cuban wrappers at that time.

I think I read that in an old JR Cigars catalog that Lew Rothman wrote back in the 90’s.

The Aladino is 'Honduroon'.

TBF it is Cameroon seed, it's just grown in Honduras.

What a mix. Cuban and Cameroon seed grown in...Hang on a minute! Tobacco is not native to Cameron! So original Cuban seed, grown in Cameroon then that seed grown in Honduras? America's boomerang seed. Amboo.

Not to make your head explode, but don’t forget the Sumatra-seed grown in Cameroon.
