Cuban Customs frustrates the departure of more than 4,000 undeclared cigars in Havana

The seizure at the capital's airport reveals smuggling attempts that yield high illicit profits and resulted in a report to the Revolutionary National Police.

Cuba's Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle an exorbitant number of more than 4,400 loose cigars with bands that were set to leave the country unreported from Havana's international airport

The first deputy chief of the General Customs of the Republic, Wiliam Pérez González, reported on the social media platform X that agents detected the merchandise while attempting to evade customs control, although he did not specify the number of individuals who tried to remove that volume of cigars.

Similarly, the regime official did not specify in the brief note whether the cigars were authentic, although they were likely counterfeits that, nevertheless, sell well outside of Cuba.

I ponder how many smaller shipments usually make their way through... I feel like whatever outfit is responsible worked their way up to a 4k+ batch and had plenty of smaller successes to embolden their greed.
