Have loved them for years. One of my favorite cigars and my first love of CCs. I have several boxes, only one not smoked from. In my opinion, possibly the best overall cigar (in terms of the categories above) in the world today. Boxes of El Laguito rolled have been beyond incredible and Partagas factory ones are excellent as well. Have only had a few duds from outlying factories. I feel if we knew the blending that went into the D4 we’d know why it’s so consistent. I wish I had picked up 30 boxes in 14/15 because as @LizardGizmo has said, it’s now harder to smoke them because replacement cost is so high. I will buy more some day but it won’t be for a while or it will be trading for “double banded dollar gobblers”.

I keep them around to try to be a good host for my friends. Maybe my favorite guest cigar. If I ran out I would buy more. If I had to pick three vitolas from Partagas they wouldn't make the cut. I like them but I don't love them.

I’ve had 4 so far and can tell there is potential. The aroma has been heavenly. I keep waiting for the taste to level up to the aroma. Sadly that hasn’t happened yet. I’ll keep going. 4-6 based on sample size.

Solid smoke for me. Seems to be more refined than the D5. I find frequent construction issues, mainly a tight draw where it is overpacked near the cap even though the foot looks like it will smoke well...

E2 smokes the D4 on all levels.

Agreed. E2s tend to be scarce or cost prohibitive, especially at the rate at which D4s are available. If E2s were as similar to D4s on those levels, I'd opt for the E2s. Given this, I reserve what E2s I have available for my super special occasion smokes. D4 does a fine job for those in between times, though.

They are reliable, consistent, and fair priced. They won't find a spot in my humidor, cause I don't like them. But those that do, love 'em.

FOH really loves 'em.
