Cubatabaco stamp was used from 1985 to to 1994. The code looks to be the NIVELACUSO code used between 1985 and 1998. AUL works out to be June 1985.

Monte 1's they are indeed. How did you get June 85?

AUL was explained above, but the Cubatabaco leaf looks relatively crisp and there's no Totalmente A Mano, so it's 1985 through 1988.

Both not correct

I did and do have Boxes with NIVELACUSO from 1984

Would you mind posting up some pics of your boxes @Salomones?

Certainly not everything is perfect in the cigar 'bibles' – how could it? But what puzzles me here is that it’s not just them but also all serious (read: trustworthy) published info (on web as well as in print), and including official Habanos publications, are stating a start of date stamping (NIVELACUSO code) in 1985. Not saying it couldn't have happened, and if only in an off-the-record test run. But before ‘history’ will have to be rewritten I think it needs a bit more information that would need some thorough verification.

Yes. I will do so in the next days. Like I wrote, one example is to be seen on Bond Roberts.
