Fugu Posted Monday at 09:59 PM Posted Monday at 09:59 PM A vintage box from a cigar that’s nowhere to be seen these days … 🥲 1
GP012 Posted Monday at 11:30 PM Posted Monday at 11:30 PM Guessing very early Cubatabaco stamp, so mid 80s (June 1985?) Monte No 1's. 2
El Presidente Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM Monte 1's they are indeed. How did you get June 85?
Popular Post Bijan Posted Tuesday at 02:10 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 02:10 AM According to CCW this is original date code system from 1985-1998: https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/packaging/information#Date_Codes A = June UL = 1985 Edit: for clarity: N I V E L A C U S O 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 So A = 6 = June UL=85 = 1985 4 1
Fuzz Posted Tuesday at 02:11 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:11 AM Cubatabaco stamp was used from 1985 to to 1994. The code looks to be the NIVELACUSO code used between 1985 and 1998. AUL works out to be June 1985. 2

Certainly not everything is perfect in the cigar 'bibles' – how could it? But what puzzles me here is that it’s not just them but also all serious (read: trustworthy) published info (on web as well as in print), and including official Habanos publications, are stating a start of date stamping (NIVELACUSO code) in 1985. Not saying it couldn't have happened, and if only in an off-the-record test run. But before ‘history’ will have to be rewritten I think it needs a bit more information that would need some thorough verification. 2
