JohnS Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 Fat New Padrón Blacks Coming This Fall May 5, 2025 - By David Savona Photos/Padrón The Padrón family is conservative with new releases, so a new Padrón is typically a big deal. This fall, the company will begin shipping the Padrón PB-99, a line extension to the sub-brand that is better known as Padrón Black. The cigars in that line are powerful, stronger than most other Padróns. The PB-99, which will come in maduro and natural versions, measures 6 3/4 inches long with a 60 ring gauge. Hand-rolled in Nicaragua using Nicaraguan tobaccos, they’re slated to retail for $44, and will come in boxes of 10. Shipping is expected in September. Unlike most Padróns, these cigars are round, rather than box pressed, which is consistent with the Padrón Black series. The 99 in the cigar name honors what would have been the 99th birthday of José Orlando Padrón, who founded Padrón Cigars in Miami in 1964. (He died in 2017.) Padrón Blacks are small-production brands, one of the lesser-known entries in the Padrón library and one that’s not even listed on the company’s website. The company began making them in 2015, starting with the 89, which originally was made for a cigar-shop event and later became a TAA exclusive released in 2019. Padrón Blacks have appeared in sampler packs offered by the Cigar Rights of America, and now the only one that’s available in cigar shops is the PB-97, a torpedo. That’s the only Padrón Black size we’ve rated so far, and it did well, with both the natural and maduro versions scoring 93 points in a January Cigar Insider tasting. JohnS Posted August 12, 2025 Author Posted August 12, 2025 Padrón Ships PB-99 August 11, 2025 - Patrick Lagreid Padrón has begun shipping the newest installment in its PB, or Padrón Black, line, the PB-99, which celebrates what would have been José O. Padrón’s 99th birthday. It’s one of the biggest cigars in the company’s entire portfolio, measuring 6 3/4 x 60. The PB-99 is a Nicaraguan puro offered in both natural and maduro wrapper options, with pricing set at $44 per cigar and $440 for a box of 10 cigars. The Padrón Black has been seeing more and more releases in recent years; just last year, the company shipped the PB-97, a 6 3/4 x 54 torpedo vitola. The company first released the line in 2016 by way of the José O. Padrón 89 Birthday Blend Natural and Maduro, a pair of 6 x 46 corona gordas that were created to commemorate the birthday of the company’s patriarch. The cigars were initially exclusive to Florda-based retailer Smoke Inn, but both returned in 2018 as a limited edition release to retail members of the Tobacconists Association of America (TAA). They also came with the new name of Padrón Black No. 89. It has since made appearances in Cigar Rights of America’s Freedom Samplers as well as in limited edition releases, though the PB-99 was described as being a regular production size. Jorge Padrón told halfwheel that the Padrón Black line sits between the Serie 1926 and Family Reserve lines in terms of fullness of the profile. The company unveiled the Padrón PB-99 at the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show in April. Source: https://halfwheel.com/padron-ships-pb-99/453611/ 2 1
Popular Post Ruggerpgh99 Posted August 12, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2025 What I would do for a Padron Black Lancero, PC, or Corona, should not be put into words on paper, it would be that offensive, like, the Aristocrats offensive. 2 4
mikejh Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Where are all these people smoking 60 rg cigars, does anyone know one of them? 2

Didn't matter that it tasted good. 54/55 is the maximum I could enjoy, but reality is I prefer anything 52 and under. 4
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted August 12, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2025 I have never seen anyone smoking these dildo sized monstrosities. I don't see how that would be comfortable, in the hand, in the mouth, or anywhere else. I don't get it. 4 5
El Niño Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Padrón Black PB-97 is the last cigar I had that was so strong it made me sick, and I didn't even really like the taste. Who is this giant nicotine nuke of a stick even for? 1

I’ll happily confess I love a 60 ring gauge and I’ll probably try snaffle some at some stage. And just in case anyone is wondering, no I don’t have any experience with other items that would make me more comfortable with this ring gauge 😉 1 2
BlueRidgeFly Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 I had a Padron Black No. 52 from one of those CRA samplers recently. A year and a half old. Excellent cigar, one of the best Padrons I’ve ever had, sez a lot. Full bodied but not too strong. 1
JohnS Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 New Padrón Black Size Shipping To Shops The anticipated Nicaraguan cigar is arriving earlier than expected Aug 13, 2025 - By David Savona Photo/Padrón Cigars Padrón Cigars has just started shipping its newest size, the Padrón PB-99, a line extension to the sub-brand that is colloquially known as Padrón Black. The PB-99, available in maduro and natural versions, measures 6 3/4 inches long with a 60 ring gauge. It retails for $44 apiece. While Padrón cigars are known for their box-pressed shape, these are round. The cigars are rolled by hand in Nicaragua using Nicaraguan tobaccos, and they come in boxes of 10. The 99 in the name honors what would have been the 99th birthday of company founder José Orlando Padrón, who was born on June 10, 1926. He died in 2017. The cigars are coming a little early. They were previewed to American retailers at the Premium Cigar Association trade show in New Orleans this spring, and at the time they were expected to ship in September. “We did it earlier because we had the inventory, a little earlier than we anticipated,” Jorge Padrón told Cigar Aficionado. Padrón Black is a smaller line, and it’s stronger than most Padróns. The cigars have scored well (93 points) in blind tastings for Cigar Aficionado magazine and Cigar Insider newsletter. Look for a review of the new size in an upcoming issue. Source: https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/new-padron-black-size-shipping-to-shops 1
