chasy Posted February 25 Posted February 25 We often talk about the best valued CCs. Usually the conversation leads to lower priced, but very good cigars. Por Larranaga Petite Coronas, Montecarlos, Juan Lopez No 2, Fonseca, etc. My twist on the question is, based on size of cigar, what are the great values? It feels to me that double robustos would be pretty good value considering their length and gauge. You might be paying a bit more, but you're getting a better deal. Any thoughts?

Perhaps another way to put this question - what is the pound-for-pound champion of cigars?
JD_Stogies Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I asked ChatGPT to attempt to put together a table based on volume-to-price ratio (assuming all cigars are equally packed with tobacco). JLP Cazadores and the rest of the JLP line won by a longshot 🤣 1 2

Yes pound for pound, but also relative value. For example, the Quai D’Orsay 52 seems to me to be good value in the marca given its length and gauge relative to the other Quai D’Orsay lineup. But yes, pound for pound is another way of thinking about it.
riderpride Posted February 26 Posted February 26 JL2, or Mag46 as bang for the buck. Probably Boli PC though - smaller format with plenty of flavor. Cheers
Ford2112 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I would say any of the Rafael Gonzalez vitolas fit the bill, as well as some of the cheaper Partagas offerings like the Habaneros, Aristocrats, etc. Other that short filler there isn't much anymore in what I consider cheap anymore. Monte 4 at 400 something a box is insane.
chasy Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 The Rafael Gonzalez belicoso does strike me as good bang for buck. I might even throw the Rio Seco in there. It's a massive cigar, not cheap, but at ~$35 a stick it is a much bigger smoke than, say a $30 Robusto, so in my mind a good value.

Grimlock Posted February 26 Posted February 26 In FOH land, the king of bargains for over a year has been the Partagas Petit Coronas Especials.

I've just tried again and you're right, there's been some change. At the time I wasn't surprised about everything tobacco-related being censored, now I'm surprised it's not anymore.

I have a chat specifically tailored to giving me smoking schedules (with drink pairings) if I plan on smoking several cigars in one session. It also explains why it picks what it picks 😃
havanaclub Posted March 2 Posted March 2 RGPC - value for a PC that battles with the Monte 4, crushes a BPC or Romeo PC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3

If I am parking my coin long term it would be in the Double Corona, Churchill-sized offerings. I make time to smoke these days and for 50 or so dollars a Punch DC or Lusi fits the bill at around 2 hours smoking time for me, and Winnies and RyJ Tubos would be the other. These and regular morning coffee smokes and I'd be happy the rest of my days.
