Popular Post eaglebear29 Posted January 27 Popular Post Posted January 27 Puro Desnudo - Canonazo N6 (FSC2J25) Dimensions: 6 X 52 Filler: Honduras / Nicaragua Binder: Honduras Wrapper: Honduras Beautiful spotted wrapper you can see the age and can tell this will be toothy. Got this 5 pack in late September ‘24. Great draw with a punch cut to smoke it slower in the wind. Initial light up: Beautiful closed foot I was skeptical of when lighting. Boy was I wrong, I’ve had so many bad ones but this was a mind changer; raw creme with only a dash of coffee and hints of dark honey. Wow. End of First 3rd: Raw creme with a dash of coffee and a nice toasted piece of sourdough bread lathered in butter made by the neighbor. I rarely retro, only more recently, but when I do it’s usually a great cigar. Wow, smoothest retro I’ve ever experienced, straight raw creme with slight honey roasted coffee beans. Strength is light+ to medium and impressively smooth and tasty. End of Second 3rd: The coffee has turned more pronounced into a slightly honey roasted coffee bean. Wow the coffee bean in the mouth is going along nice with the toasted sourdough lathered in butter. The cream on top from the fresh milk and the butter from the bread balances out all the tasty dark notes. Might be picking up a slight note of sweet cinnamon. At the end it dances back a fourth between being more honey roasted coffee bean and creme; toasted sourdough just slightly behind the two. Medium to almost medium+ in strength at times. End of Final 3rd: Almost slight notes of caramel that I get from a young PLPC. Dark honey roasted coffee beans. Buttered sourdough bread turning less sour, into more of a shortbread. These flavors balance very well. So good. Flavors were more bold yet remained medium and sometimes medium+ on occasion. Final thoughts: Wow. This one had a lot going on here for me. One of the smoothest sticks I’ve had recently besides the Sombremesa Brûlée Blue that was very balanced, and more on the light side of things. I can tell this one’s up there with it, and better in the sense of how I like the strength and flavor building in its own way melding together nicely. The tobacco tasted aged, especially the wrapper on the opening. Rarely from the go have I ever gotten that much smooth thick raw creme. Amazing transitions on this cigar, and complex. First third was mainly creme with a dash of the darker sweet notes. The 2nd being more balanced with all flavors intermingling. The 3rd was more dark roasted honeyed coffee bean dominant, to caramel notes; tagging behind was the honey in the final 3rd. It’s great. Very toothy, phenomenal cigar. The potential here is amazing. I could see this hitting 95/96 if that caramel note gets more pronounced from the dark honey which is already great. If the toasted sourdough transitions to more shortbread notes, then maybe even a 97. Excited to see the evolution. No harsh edges. Not even a slight bit of ammonia tried to creep in at the end despite the wind. Highly recommend this crescendo cigar! Time: 1hr 40min in the California wind Nub/Pipe-worthy: Absolutely on both, I’m getting all I can outta this one! Straight from the corn crutch to the pipe! Score: 94/100 17
gormag38 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Such great sticks. Think I only have one left from the original offering of these and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about smoking it. I don't know how the later batches were rolled, and felt there's no way it could live up to the ones I have. But your review has given me some faith! 1

I heard good things but really had no idea. This was my first ever and I was blown away with how much was going on, especially with not having them very long. This is up there with the top of the nudies for me now. Glad I could be of some help!
El Presidente Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Great review again I love the way these are ageing. To be fair, neither Hamlet nor I had any idea when they were blended two years ago. We hadn't worked with the tobacco before. Having a stack full of those initial rolls, we dip into them each month to try and gain a trajectory. The wrapper may not be the prettiest but it is sungrown (flavour!) and "untainted/undressed" in the the finishing process. They are solid 92/93's with the occasional 94+. That will do me. 1 1

How close you got to Upmann with these continues to impress me. Hats off. 1 1

Thank you 🙏, I’m sold on this one. They are definitely in my top NW smokes now. I’m gonna have to get another bundle to revisit more often and put one away for aging. I’m already happy with where these are at so any improvement is a plus. Thanks for the info on the wrapper, might not be smooth in the beauty sense, but they sure are in flavor; a well worth it trade off. Most cigars I’ve had that have had that bumpiness (dots) to them, have just been toothy and magical. I was blown away here as I’m not as much of a bigger cigar guy, then the complexity and everything going on got me. Can’t wait to try the other vitolas and really looking forward to the upcoming releases. Especially the Half Corona! Hats off to you and Hamlet for these and creating such an approachable lineup. Haven’t found one I can say so far that I dislike. Great job here and well done. 👏 1
