Will tariffs (assuming they happen) increase cigar prices in the near future? I cannot imagine any Latin American nation has parity in trade to the US.

Not meant to be political post, but it could bridge that gap back to Cubans for some US consumers.

Why worry about things you have absolutely no control over? Most of the NC companies are USA based, so I see no issue there.

The majority of production is from Nicaragua and there are fears they'll have tariffs applied:

I'm still not going to lose any sleep over "hypothetical scenarios". Nicaraguan cigars at the moment are a bargain when compared to current pricing of Habanos. With tariffs? Still a bargain if the box increases $20usd.

Tariff, if will be enforced, is almost nothing compared to some state's tobacco tax. I don't see a tariff as a major impact on cigar prices. I don't believe tariff would be more than 20-25% if any. I would gladly pay tariff instead of state's tobacco tax.

It's not meant to be political post, but better worry about how to vote out people who want to tax everything on left and right from the state governments. Then the NC prices would go down. And I think you know how those people are called and where those tax money are end up.

20-25% tariff should equal at least that in an increase of price assuming margins remain the same.

Only 7 companies raising prices (so far)

It seems most of the NC companies raise prices regularly. Halfwheel posts a lot of press releases throughout the year regarding individual increases. Looks like the last two Padron increases were in Mar/April of 2018 and 2015, they were negligible increases. However, I predict a more significant price increase is in the works for Padron. Be patient, all prices go up.

Thankfully not the wondrous plant called cannabis. Whether legal market, or black market, pricing is the same as it was 25 years ago. actually, in most cases, cheaper. Just everything else around it has gone up price.

As I said I will gladly pay 20-25% tariff INSTEAD of state's tobacco tax. And I don't see 20-25% tariff price increase as a big deal taking in consideration that good quality NC cigars can be acquired WELL below MSRP when on sale at low-margin retailers. Enjoy life, enjoy cigars! 🙂

Way cheaper than 25 years ago.
