Popular Post Nevrknow Posted October 1, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 1, 2024 Without power for 3 days. Brought supplies in as I headed home Friday. Elderly neighbors taken care of. Check. Gas lines ridiculous. People fighting in lines. Reports of gas looting in Augusta. Ridiculous. Glad I'm a "prepper" :). We can last A WHILE on necessities. Hope anyone else involved is ok. Wife used to ask me why I had 3 smokers and 2 grills. Not a word said as I cooked for 15 people 3 times a day. Ahhhh the silence is lovely. 😂 Broke out some Weller Antique 107, Blanton's and some Sig VI's for my neighbors and I. Make the best of things. No matter what! On second thought, I'm running low on VI's......ahhhh what the hell...................:) BTW, I'm in AIken, SC anyone close that is in dire need hit me up. I know a guy. 7 9
Chas.Alpha Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Massive hit in the hills of NC. Asheville and surrounding areas wiped out. I40 impassable beyond Black Mountain. I didn’t know that hurricane damage reached this far inland, as most of the time our power was out in Florida after the storm. Many killed in the flood waters … No bueno. 2 1
Nevrknow Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Half of Chimney rock is gone. Not flooded. GONE. Helicopters flying in and out as we speak. Asheville, that entire area. 2 1
Chas.Alpha Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 For those of us that don’t live in the area; everything West of Winston/Salem NC thru Knoxville TN is a flooded river bed. 2 1
MrFolgers Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Absolutley gutted by this. Spent much of my childhood going to Asheville/Black mountain/Chimney Rock on the weekends. Always considered it a second home. 2

Blazer Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 We were extremely lucky just lots of downed branches & power out for a very short time. Augusta is an hour east of us and they got decimated. Most of our hotels are booked with Augusta residents and they are having to drive to our area to get gas & food. All of our stations were out of gas Friday, but thankfully were replenished quickly. Prayers for all those affected by Helene. 1
Lamboinee Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 They are releasing 440,000 gallons a second into the French Broad River just up stream from Knoxville. They also issued a dam failure watch warning for the nearby Douglas dam. Also, a major part of I-40 collapsed from wash-out. Luckily, my hometown has not been hit with significant safety issues, but we definitely got a reminder of how powerful mother nature can be, especially when she's pummelling us with water. The river is flooded with debris and I imagine it will only get worse. Hope everyone is safe. https://www.knoxnews.com/story/weather/2024/09/28/interstate-40-collapse-tennessee-north-carolina-border-near-gorge/75427194007/ https://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/environment/2024/10/01/east-tennessee-counties-below-dams-flood-as-tva-moves-helene-rainfall/75467447007/
